I adore the Roaring 20s era. There was such a clash of values and social mores. I think that makes for tensions and good stories, like the Great Gatsby.
I started it recently and put it down for something else. Couldn’t get into it, the start was slow and bored me. I may give it another go at some stage.
I loved it. It captures the decadence and thrill-seeking of the post-war generation, and one man’s soul-destroying struggle for the love of a hollow woman.
If you want to see how the roaring twenties were in America, and the corruption of the American dream, then it is the right book for you.
Yeah that exactly what i’m looking for
Thank youu
You’re welcome.
That it’s Gatsby, not Gatsbay. It’s a story of excess, beauty, jealousy, recklessness, and misunderstanding.
Thank you
I’ve just started reading it.
And a tale of self absorption
Good book
Yup that’s what it said by the majority of readers

I heard that the author, in his lifetime, made less than $20 in royalties. It became a huge success only after his death.
Not true really.
Thank you, Cathy…that had really dismayed me!! 😉

Read it in high school. Loved it. Read This Side of Paradise this year. Didn’t love it.
One of the more enjoyable classics I’ve read.
I enjoyed the historical value of it.
Yeah it’s a reach book.
I love some of Fitzgerald’s short stories (most especially “Babylon Revisited”) and love Tender is the Night, but I’ve never been a fan of Gatsby.
Ah .thank you for sharing ur your opinion
I’ll try to read the other books
I started it recently and put it down for something else. Couldn’t get into it, the start was slow and bored me. I may give it another go at some stage.
Over rated matter in my opinion
I second this.
Not a fan.

The novel moves as if the great writer could not help writing the story. Watch the movie too, better the old movie with Robert Redford.
It was a great read
