Hated it. If I had to ever pick my most hated book this would be it. Not sure if it’s because I had to analyse the life out of it in College and that ruined it for me. But I can’t stand it, even thinking about it makes me angry ?
Love it! I’ve read it 5 times since 2012. If you like it, you should also check out Trimalchio, which is an early version of what would become The Great Gatsby.
It’s an excellent book where a lot of unlikable characters get exactly what they deserve. F Scott Fitzgerald is not the easiest to read but if you want to start small try his short stories. Bernice Bobs her hair is a favorite of mine.
I read it a few times, but it wasn’t my favorite book. The Great Gatsby is my brother’s favorite book. But we both agree the book is better than the movies.
Wow I have read it and watched as a movie …it is my favourite book …I have enjoyed much more as a book. I think u will do the same because it’s full of ideas about American dream .enjoy it
I loved it – a bit of trivia for y’all – the book was written to fund Zelda’s treatment but didn’t sell until it was selected to print in paperback (to be a size that would fit in a soldier’s pocket) and then sent to WWll soldiers to read.
I bought it at HPB for $3 a couple of weeks ago when I went to get To Kill A Mockingbird for my daughter. It’s an amazing story. I want my kids to read it even if they don’t in school.
I absolutely love The Great Gatsby! It’s my all time favorite! I even have a tattoo of my favorite quote in the significant colors mentioned through out it. ??
A long time ago, great read.
Thank you ?
Yes, one of my all-time favorites. First two or three chapters were tough, but it got better. Just continue reading. I’m glad I didn’t put it down.
Thank you ?
I’m about 3/4 through it and I’m not sure where the story is going.
In a boring way?
@Neña not exactly boring but definitely nothing exciting
I read it in high school and thought it was boring. I loved the movie though.
I saw the movie years ago and thought it was good too. And I wanted to compare ? thank you ?
Read it 3 times – for high school, for Uni & once to see if I would enjoy it more when I wasn’t *forced to read it. Unfortunately, no.
True, I’m sure being forced to read it took the fun out of it completely lol. Thank you for your thoughts. ?
Yea I love it!
Thank you!
Love it!
Thanks!
Thank you everyone ? definitely considering it to be my next read! ??
Eh. It was ok. Fast read
I read it for my bookclub but did not enjoy it.
Love Fitzgerald 🙂 enjoy gatsby
It’s one of my favourites ❤
It’s okay. It doesn’t deserve its title of a ‘classic’ but it’s not the worst book out there.
I don’t get the fuss.
Loved it
I hated Gatsby, but loved the curious case of Benjamin Button,
Read it once. I have no views. I liked the movie, a bit different from the book.
mediocre at best
I loved the Great Gatsby it is almost like a soap opera.
One of my favourite books! ?

A good one
I like it
Just a typical classic to me
Hasn’t everyone read it? One of the few books I read twice. Loved it.
I just recently read it, and I didn’t like it very much at all. Maybe, my expectations was to high going into it.
I enjoyed it from what I remembered …. it been 20 + yrs lol
Read it in high school a very long time ago. Remains one of my favorites.
read it. glad i did. left me unsettled and wondering… fitzgerald succeeds in describing 1920s society ??
Read it but was not my cup of tea
Enjoyed book and movie ( although movie had some annoying differences)
I read it for the first time a couple of years ago and loved it so much.
Dull and dated
I have read it several times and enjoyed it. I recommend the audiobook as well.
Read it as a teenager, was not a fan of it
Loved it.
Read it last year. Uneven. From that modern period where it was ok to have no meaningful female characters in a plot.
Loved it!!!
Its excellent prose. Loved it. The Leonardo Di caprio movie uses the same dialogues. Its a short read.
Fantastic!!
Love it! I’ve read it 5 times since 2012. If you like it, you should also check out Trimalchio, which is an early version of what would become The Great Gatsby.
I find it boring, the movie with Leonardo DiCaprio was amazing and I loved the parties. I also don’t like the end
Very good book
Love it! ?
I think the book is by far better than the movie, but I’m not too fond of it because the majority of the characters are unlikeable (IMO)
Great book.
One of my favorite books.
I love this book. Its one of my favorites.
I love this book!
A brilliant book. Even the minor characters have something to show us about America.
I deserved an award from trudging through that dreck.
Not my favorite. I like Tender is the Night and think “Babylon Revisited” is one of the greatest American short stories ever.
First time in High School Lit class, later revisited.
I’ve read it a few times, for school. The characters are unlikeable, not one I’d like to ever meet in person.
It’s an excellent book where a lot of unlikable characters get exactly what they deserve. F Scott Fitzgerald is not the easiest to read but if you want to start small try his short stories. Bernice Bobs her hair is a favorite of mine.
One of the two books I remember hating the most when I had to read them in high school, the other was Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton. Ugh!
One of my favorites. The entitled and the not so lucky. It’s history.
I honestly hated it when I had to read it in school. I reread it a few years ago as an adult (wanted to see how I felt as an adult) and I loved it!
Awesome book but some of the themes are depressing
I actually liked the movie better. But the book was good too.
I read it wasn’t my cup of tea
I saw the movie and it was borring.
I read it a few times, but it wasn’t my favorite book. The Great Gatsby is my brother’s favorite book. But we both agree the book is better than the movies.
it’s Great! 🙂
I liked the book. Have read a couple times
hated it.
Certainly much better than the DiCaprio version of the movie.
I’ve read it at least three times. It’s really good.
I love it! So many good themes that you have to dig a little deep for. I love that in a book.
Yes I did it was a long time ago in high school.
There’s more to this novel than meets the eye, so it has to be read slowly and closely.
Love it!!
It was ok, kind of expected more
<3
Didn’t care for it
meh.
I’ve read it twice
Didn’t like it.
I read it at school. One of my favourite books ever. Very evocative and melancholy. Beautifully written.
Wow I have read it and watched as a movie …it is my favourite book …I have enjoyed much more as a book. I think u will do the same because it’s full of ideas about American dream .enjoy it
it was ok…
Amazing writing, but I always struggle when I don’t really identify with the characters.
Yes. A different set of rules for the rich!
I loved it – a bit of trivia for y’all – the book was written to fund Zelda’s treatment but didn’t sell until it was selected to print in paperback (to be a size that would fit in a soldier’s pocket) and then sent to WWll soldiers to read.

Both To Kill A Mockingbird and The Great Gatsby are read in many High Schools
Yeah….Gave 5 stars, you can check my review
I absolutely love The Great Gatsby! It’s my all time favorite! I even have a tattoo of my favorite quote in the significant colors mentioned through out it. ??
It is a beautiful book. Leo does a great job in the movie too. I absolutely loved it.
Love anything by F. Scott Fitzgerald or his wife Zelda.
