It’s the only one I could think of off the top of my head besides the diary of Anne frank.

Probably should’ve asked – do you mean fiction or non-fiction?

Prefer the books written by survivors or with some close experience of the events, but both of the above are on my TBR list. Thank you

@Vasilena Lilac Girls is good because it’s based on truth

I Have Lived a Thousand Years by Livia Bitte-Jackson, which is a recounting of her own tale.
Fiction wise, I like Carol Matas.

Read one in grade school called The Big Lie. Don’t know who wrote it or if it might have been an excerpt from a larger book, but I do remember that it stayed with me.

I just began reading Night by Elie Wiesel. I can’t wait to finish it, it’s really too painful a read. I wouldn’t say it’s the “best” book, but it is authentic, painfully authentic.

I read that and then The Last Jew of Treblinka. They were two intense reads

Rose

I tried to get back into it earlier today, but I simply cannot continue. After losing my husband last year, from which I am still reeling, this book is a bit much for me to deal with. Even without the burden of personal grief, the story is just awful.

0
Cassandra

Yes, that book is pure horror.

Amazing book. I read it and school and again a year ago and loved it

Born Survivors is a real account about women who were pregnant during the Holocaust. Very descriptive. It was the saddest one I’ve read but I’m so glad I read it. An amazing account but a tear jerker for sure!

We Were Brothers, it’s about a guy who came up with the idea and made the crematoriums at Auchwitz. He got rich off them, while his best friend ended up in the chimney.
