@Lesley it is a true story. And one of the best books I have ever read!! Sad but good. I really recommend you read this. I have read a lot of books on the holocaust and like I said my favorite.
@Carli I’ve never heard of the pharmacist one. Ill have to read it. It seems to be a popular title format “the Tattooist of Auschwitz” “the librarian of Auschwitz” 😉
Following!! A few that I’ve read that were great: Night, The Book Thief, The Diary of Anne Frank, and The Librarian of Auschwitz. I am always so gutted reading these stories, but find myself so engaged while reading them. Hope you’re getting some great ideas! I know I am! ?
The kommandant girl Of windmills and war (I added these two suggestions as I see a lot of excellent books notes by other readers, but these two not yet mentioned)
I’ve just finished ‘We were the lucky ones’ by Georgia Hunter. It is based on a true story of one family’s experiences (Georgia is the grand daughter of the family written about). They came from a town where only 300 of the 30000 jews who lived there remained alive at the end of the war. Most of their family did. It was haunting and beautiful and I would recommend to those who can handle this type of story.
The Boy in the Blue striped Pajamas The Tattooist of Auschwitz The Choice (best book ever) The Pianist Sarah’s Key Finding Rebecca Another phenomenal book is Giants The Dwarfs of Auschwitz The Nazi officer’s Wife
Rena’s Promise is one I finished recently. Having read quite a few Holocaust books I can say that this book is one of the most harrowing accounts of that era. Being a true story made it all the more so! I would highly recommend this to get a new insight.
