Julie Garwood one of my favorite authors for historical romance (not smutty though). What makes hers fun to read is she uses some of the same characters/ and family names so you can kind of create a timeline as you go through the books.
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon is excellent, especially if you’re fascinated by Scottish history like the Jacobite rising.
11/22/63 by Stephen King is kind of historical fiction. Main character attempts to travel back in time in order to prevent the assassination of JFK. I loved it.
I’ve heard All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr is excellent. It’s on my massive to read list.
“Outlander” is indeed phenomenal. But for a single book, I have LOVED “Paint the Wind” by Cathy Cash Spellman. I read it years ago, and only recently remembered it in another discussion. I need to find my copy and read it again …
Walk on Earth a Stranger by Rae Carson The Firebird and the Shadowy Horses by Susanna Kearsley (not YA but still amazing) Stalking Jack the Ripper series by Kerri Maniscalco
