I have a questions regarding chapters in books. Do you prefer short chapters, longer ones or is it not a consideration?

I generally LOVE shorter chapters and will often pick the book with the shorter chapters if between two. I don’t mind long ones but shorter would be my preference xxx
The book I’m reading at the moment is 26 chapters long. 409 pages. One of the chapters was 67 pages long!!
short
Short chapters x
Short chapters preferably.

Preferably short chapters but not put off by long chapters.

The shorter the better! By the way, can anyone recommend good books with short chapters?
@Catarina I Am Pilgrim.
James Patterson is King of the Short Chapters I think..
Short
Long. Always.
If it is a long chapter it is hard to put down. One thing I don’t like are to many characters.
Short to you can actually do just ‘one’ more in a few minutes.
Not a consideration

Just see how it flows. Don’t get too technical or it’ll ruin your creativity.

The best writers can make long chapters feel short! So as long as the story is gripping, for me it doesn’t matter ?
as long as the books good any will do!
Definitely short x
As long as it’s good I don’t really care. But sometimes shorter ones are better when I’m reading during break time at work cos I can usually get the chapter I’m reading completed before my break ends

Short.
Short if crime.
I prefer shorter chapters but long chapters wouldn’t stop me reading a book.
Short or medium. No chapters is a nightmare.
Short, otherwise I lose interest, but I still persist if the book is good
It actually depends on the genre, but for the most part short.

not bothered personally but my husband will only read James Patterson because the shorter chapters dont put him off so much.

Short, partly because I always say, just one more chapter before bed
Makes no difference to me really.
I don’t really mind as long as they right for the story.
Short especially as I read at bedtime & fall asleep
As long as the story is a good one, I don’t care either way! I’m more interested and involved with the plot to bother with chapter length!
Short
Any
Short.
I really don’t care as long as it’s a good story and holds my attention.
Much prefer short and find I get through books far quicker when the chapters are short ?
Short everything — chapters, novels, sentences. Whatever’s “left out” we’ll fill in ourselves.
Short. But as long as it’s like 3-10 pages. 1 page chapters are annoying.
When I’m deep into a book I seldom notice the passing of chapters.
That’s how it should be ideally. I just like short chapters so if I’m on a break at work i don’t have to stop mid chapter. If you have plenty of time chapter length shouldn’t matter.
Short ones for time to make a cuppa and get stuck in again??
Short because if I fall asleep I don’t have to re read far back if the chapters are short x
Long. Ridiculously short chapters are too choppy and irritating.
I much prefer short chapters xx
Not an issue with me. My normal chapters could be anywhere from 500 words to 1500 words long.
Short.. Or if not then breaks in the chapters
Shorter

As long as the story is good it doesn’t matter
it doesn’t matter as long as I am enjoying the book
Short ones myself.
Short ones.
Short chapters for me.
Sometimes short….but if it’s a really good book and I’m playing the “one more chapter” game before going to sleep, long chapters work best!
short for me
