I am now on my third one. I upgraded to the 10″ which is perfect for reading magazines and articles. I still primarily use my Paperwhite for reading books. I download to both of theses and along with library books I am never without something to read and enjoy.
Kindle fire HD my boss got it for me a few years back, it is my most prized possession!! No SD option, everything goes to the cloud. Customer service is phenomenal! My screen cracked mysteriously I was still able to use mayday (?) they sent a new one out within two days!!! Free!
I have a Fire and Paperwhite. I like the Fire for games and getting online, the Paperwhite is great for reading. Highly recommend either. Though the Paperwhite is a bit fragile, so don’t step on it like my toddler did to mine lol
The classics are free. You can touch the word and a definition comes up (not archaic words, though). You can adjust the lightness, the background, and the type size. Those are my favorite features.
I received a kindle paper white, without the commercials and it’s the best there is! 😀 I love it! 😀 Of course, nothing beats the actual, physical book, but humor me 😛
I have the newest one and I love it. It is so convenient, BUT, big but, I LOVE love love my physical books. Its just really tough to cart 3-4 books at a time on the fly. So I love my KF for the convenience, plus I can play little games and stuff on it when I’m too distracted to read. 🙂
The fire is too heavy to make it good for reading, the built in browser is dial-up slow and it refuses to play videos other than from Amazon so you can’t watch Vudu on it. So my expensive device (I didn’t buy the low end one) sits and gathers dust. I doubt it even has a charge at the moment.
On the other hand, my Kindle Paperwhite is an awesome device and we’ll worth the price. It currently holds 1148 books.
Love it! Just got the newest version for my birthday from my husband and just love it. At first, he mistakenly got me a Paperwhite which, to me, is a downgrade from my Fire, lol. He didn’t know so returned it and made me a happy wife lol
So-so edging toward dislike. It’s kind of fun for games and music, but for an e-reader it’s only okay. My husband uses his almost exclusively for music and a LOT more than I do. After he wore out the first one he’s had three and hated every one, especially after they changed the programming to imitate smart phones. Both of us have frequent trouble with internet related functions (basically everything) and consistency of function.
I do have one and love it for it’s portability. Still love reading real books but have limited storage and my library doesn’t always have what I am looking to read. Constantly re-reading my paper books when I can’t find anything of interest in the library.
Love it just make sure it’s at least 16g
love mine
I love mine (I’m on it right now!)

I just got one, and I am so in love with it!!
Love, love, love it. More than words can say. But I still couldn’t do without my book babies.
They seem reasonable on ebay lol, I just don’t want a tablet that is like a phone, this will be for ebooks, but I do like color 🙂 thanks everyone!
I don’t have a tablet or e-reader of any kind. I don’t think I would like it. I live to feel the pages and cuddle up with a good book.
We have Amazon prime. So they can also get lending library. Which is borrow one book for free every month. And lots of free ebooks.
Sorry so many replies. Can’t seem to edit my original posts.
There’s also an app Overdrive. We can borrow audiobooks from the library too!
My Kindle is ancient, so I still like a real book.
