If I already have an iPad, why would I need a kindle? Thinking of getting one, but do I really need it. Does anyone have both?

Kindle definitely better for your eyes, compact, and the battery lasts a lot longer.
It’s better on the eyes to read on a kindle. It’s lighter, better battery life etc
I have both. I like the kindle to read so I’m not constantly having to shut down to check Facebook etc.
Mines an iPad mini, fits great into my handbag
iPad great but you can’t read outside if it’s sunny.
I have the kindle fire which is a tablet as well so best of both really
I have both… Kindle is the BEST to read on!!!
Kindle (not the Kindle Fire) is kinder on your eyes and you can read in sunlight. So if you read a lot and/or want to be able to read outside. I’d say yes, you need both. I love my Ipad and have reference books on it, but my Kindle paperwhite is for serious reading.
I have both but all my techy friends take the micky out of me for having two!!
I use the kindle ap on my ipad
Kindle battery lasts longer
I think you need both. Reading constantly on a tablet would make my eyes very dry and |I would need drops. Kindle ereader mimics a regular book and is definitely easier on the eyes.
Read into the benefits. I have kindle unlimited and it’s $10 and not only can you get over 700,000 titles for free, you also get to choose two pre releases for free. I realize it’s not free but at $10 for unlimited books, it’s free lol
A month*
I had a Sony Reader. Then my husband got me an ipad. I finally gave away the Sony, stored library included. Having more than one just confused me and I ended up buying some books a second time.
I have both and I’m very happy Kindle is better for reading specially outside no glare
Yes I do, IPad is great but you cannot read in sunlight where as with a kindle you can
I have both. I bought the kindle to use outside mostly when I’m around the pool. I found that I take it with me when I have appointments etc. that involves waiting.
I have the iPad and use the kindle app. Love it all in one
Kindle lighter, better battery and easier on the eye
Yes I have both
I have both. Glad I did because my son downloaded a couple college books onto my kindle, so when he uses that I have my iPad.
I have both and am a bit of a kindle junkie, I have bought them all (don’t ask!). My advise – Kindle Voyage, best yet!
I have both. I use the kindle to commute. You won’t buy the same book twice if they are in the same account. Having said that, I had the kindle before the iPad
I have both an iPad mini and a kindle paperwhite. Kindle is,better for reading outdoors in sunlight. I live in Spain so having this is great in summer.
I’ve got a kindle and now I read all the time on my iPad or iPhone and hardly ever use it!
I have an IPad, and 3 kindles..love. Kindle. Lots.
I think people keep a kindle if the plan to read outside …at a beach or a pool…ipad still difficult but if you are not reading outside you don’t need a kindle
I have both. I don’t use my iPad for reading – kindle is wonderful and much smaller than my iPad.
i have both. kindle is lighter and easier to keep in a pocketbook. but nothing is as good a s a physical book : )
Absolutely….I had an original kindle….and it was full…and who gets rid of books? And the battery wasn’t charging…so I ordered a voyager…..so glad I did…the weight is book like….love the back light. And I love the features of kindle …with no glare! I quit using my Ipad for reading books…
I have both – don’t read on iPad – you can read kindle in bright sun light and battery lasts longer. I would perhaps read on iPad if it was a book with photos such as a biography.
i have a Kindle app on my IPAD which is free. Now I enjoy the advantages of both in one device.
I have ipad and kindle, I find reading on the kindle easier as it lighter to hold I find laying in bed with iPad is just too heavy and I end up reading less so since I had my kindle I don’t read on iPad at all
Ipad has too many distractions, get the kindle X
I have both but use Kindle when travelling and outside in the sun.
I have a paperwhite kindle for reading, tried the kindle app on my iPad… Useless, as soon as I touched the screen it shot forward a few chapters… Drove me nuts!!!
I have both. Not essential, but I love it.
I have both. To me it’s essential because the light from the iPad is too bright although with the Kindle app you can make it dimmer but it is too heavy for me to hold for long periods of time and when I bought the new kindle I didn’t know I could make the iPad darker with the Kindle app and that’s my story and I’m sticking to it
I Pad definitely heavier but sometimes i like the bigger screen.
may be try something other than a kindle -with Kindle you have to buy your books form Amazon – I have a kobo – see http://kobo.com/ and can buy form anywhere !
I have a nexus and a kindle – reading in bright light and battery life are the main reasons I have the latter as well
I also have both….the kindle paperwhite is ideal for outside and holidays. I have “a book seat” when using my iPad, can even lay in bed with it,great piece of kit!
And remember you can share in the family now on kindle. Since I am the reader- my better half has a library from which to choose.
I went out and brought a kindle paperwhite today thanks everyone ??
Good move, the paperwhite is great. I’ve got both – iPad is too heavy!
I can’t believe how small and light it is! ?
I know – I pick my iPad up now and my arm nearly falls off lol
I have both as it is not possible to read the iPad in the sun (when we have some) the kindle is also much lighter
