I love mine it may not cover all titles I want to read but the amount of books I read from it a month more then pays for itself! I’ve had my subscription for almost 2 years now it’s also helped me find authors that I would maybe not have discovered before by it suggestions from my past purchases.
I do and love it. You can have up to 10 books at any time. I’ve tried authors I wouldn’t have done and if I don’t like them I haven’t paid more than my subscription and a lot have been very good. I can recommend it.
Love it! I love the whisper sync options. The variety is good and though all that you would want to read it has SOOO many great books. They are having deal deal until 12/3 for $80/year or something like that. Worth every penny.
I don’t. Somehow even though they’re not physical I like to ‘keep’ most of my books so I can see them. I do buy most kindle books on sale, and mainly read them when I’m not in the USA (2-3 months a year). I use my library for books frequently and am pretty lucky with hold times. I tend to get over, rather than underwhelmed with books.
Many if those books become available for free. Sign up for bookbub and you’ll get emails. They typically are books that sell for only a few bucks if you don’t get them for free. Do you read enough of the offers books to make the cost a value? I watch for the free offers and since I read from the library, my owned books, and other avenues, I’d never read my $9.99 worth
My “hubby” bought me the 2017 one. I’m very impressed still love my paperwhite but the oasis feels lovely in the hand and having the bottons on the side feels like holding a book
The 2017 is also waterproof for reading the bath. Personally if you love kindle want one that you’ll not want to replace for many years it’s definitely worth the money. Also I prefer the screen size to the paperwhite. I don’t know if it’s a kindle upgrade on all kindled but I know on the oasis 2017 you can over white writing on a black screen and also vary the boldness in each front
No the Oasis. I didn’t think there would be much more for the money but as it was a present and my paperwork pixels where missing a line by chap said he would buy me it…..im more addicted to reading than ever because how good it feels and responds.
Yes it’s expensive BUT if you’re going to have it until it breaks (now it’s waterproof I don’t know why I’d want another one) also if you have a Bluetooth speaker or earphones you can listen to audiable direct from your oasis @Anne
I bought my Oasis when they first became available and have no regrets! Love it. It is lightweight and a pleasure to hold. The screen resolution and lighting is good also. Worth the money if you read a lot.
I love kindle unlimited. I buy it on prime day so it’s abiut 6 dollars a month. If you’re okay with off the wall books no one has heard of it’s great. I still use the library for current books and best sellers too.
i get an email letting me know the new prime reading along with some magazines. I haven’t noticed any limit but I get all kinds of free reading anyway.
There are so many books available through the library Overdrive, I have difficulty justifying paying for loaned books. Yes, I may have to wait for some titles but I can always find something to read while waiting.
With so many sources of free/cheap kindle books, and no guarantee that it will include the titles I’m looking for, I never saw the value in kindle unlimited.
I have picked up a few great books but have also noticed more and more that the books offered are not always newer releases and some are free on your kindle anyway. Once in a while I do see a good one that is fairly new but I am not sure it is really worth what I pay for it each month.
I haven’t tried overdrive for borrowing kindle books, but I plan to give it a try. It looks like the maximum loan period is three weeks. Life sometimes gets hectic and I’m wondering what happens if you don’t finish a book in time. What’s your experience of this? I just found this article about a trick to easily extend the loan period. The article doesn’t mention overdrive, but I assume that’s what they’re referring to. Have you tried this trick? https://librarianbyday.net/2011/10/26/how-to-extend-the-due-date-of-your-library-ebook-on-the-kindle/amp/
I’ve had it and cancelled it. I wasn’t getting a return on my “investment” consistently. I used it for 1 or 2 books a month that would have cost me 3-5$ each to buy through prime or nothing if I got them from library. I still buy and download books from amazon frequently and usually get recommendations for books on sale through book bub
I have the kindle unlimited. I find that it has a very large variety of books to choose from. The cost of it is pretty close to one new book , so if I read more than one book a month I feel like I got my money’s worth. It has also led me to some authors I had not read before. All in all I say it’s a good deal
I loved it. When hubby wouldn’t let me buy real books I could get on there and rent them for 9.99 a month. Still prefer real books but kindle works in a pinch.
It’s great, my opinion. It’s staved off my book hoarding and helps keep me organized. I’ve found just one downside–I’m a grad student and some course readers or textbooks are not properly numbered for page citations. For fun reading Kindle Unlimited is awesome.
Yes. I’m a die hard mystery fan. Don’t need great literature but do read it. When I read I want escape. In the winter I average 10 books a week. Thank God for kindle unlimited. Even though you don’t get to keep your books on your device kindle keeps a list and tells you if you’ve read the book, which sometimes is hard for me to remember. You can re-read them. I’d guess it would depend on how much you read. It’s very cost effective for me.
following! i use my library’s overdrive access but am getting sick of waiting for holds…
I love mine it may not cover all titles I want to read but the amount of books I read from it a month more then pays for itself! I’ve had my subscription for almost 2 years now it’s also helped me find authors that I would maybe not have discovered before by it suggestions from my past purchases.
I have it and really like it.. likes been said it doesn’t cover all but covers more books than I’ll ever be able to read in my lifetime..
I do and love it. You can have up to 10 books at any time. I’ve tried authors I wouldn’t have done and if I don’t like them I haven’t paid more than my subscription and a lot have been very good. I can recommend it.

I am a physical book fan. However, I have Kindle Fire and I thought I better use it for something other than looking at recipes in the kitchen.
Sign up for bookbub get daily emails emails with books that are free on that day
I use our libraries Overdrive Libby and pay for nothing and can get current books. Some I have to wait for but I always have something to read. MHO!
I tried it but wasn’t impressed ….
Yes; love it!

I use the library’s Overdrive. Free and you can keep books for 3 weeks, the setting that most libraries use. You may have to wait, but free is free.
Love it
Does it have bestsellers and popular authors?
Does anyone have a kindle oasis?
My “hubby” bought me the 2017 one. I’m very impressed still love my paperwhite but the oasis feels lovely in the hand and having the bottons on the side feels like holding a book
I’ve heard it’s amazing, but I cannot justify the price
@Julia– do you prefer the paper white over the Oasis?
The 2017 is also waterproof for reading the bath. Personally if you love kindle want one that you’ll not want to replace for many years it’s definitely worth the money. Also I prefer the screen size to the paperwhite. @Julia one of the reason I’m thinking about the Oasis is because it’s waterproof ?
No the Oasis. I didn’t think there would be much more for the money but as it was a present and my paperwork pixels where missing a line by chap said he would buy me it…..im more addicted to reading than ever because how good it feels and responds.
If I had to choose I’d definitely go for the oasis
@Julia thank you for the info!! ?
Yes it’s expensive BUT if you’re going to have it until it breaks (now it’s waterproof I don’t know why I’d want another one) also if you have a Bluetooth speaker or earphones you can listen to audiable direct from your oasis @Anne
People keep saying they love the waterproof option. I have never needed that option. I’ve never read in the bath. Just not my thing.
I bought my Oasis when they first became available and have no regrets! Love it. It is lightweight and a pleasure to hold. The screen resolution and lighting is good also. Worth the money if you read a lot.
@Denise thanks for the info ?
I love kindle unlimited. I buy it on prime day so it’s abiut 6 dollars a month. If you’re okay with off the wall books no one has heard of it’s great. I still use the library for current books and best sellers too.
I do. It’s okay. Missing a lot of titles but there’s plenty to read.
I did have, but stopped when I realized that as a prime member, I already have access to all that.
Surely not? You get to borrow one book a month with Prime and one free.
i get an email letting me know the new prime reading along with some magazines. I haven’t noticed any limit but I get all kinds of free reading anyway.
Thank you @Donna for letting me know. I have Amazon Prime. So best start using the Unlimited portion of my membership. LOL
Strange! I don’t. Only the one free one a month. More investigation needed!
Me either, Laura.
I have picked up a few great books but have also noticed more and more that the books offered are not always newer releases and some are free on your kindle anyway. Once in a while I do see a good one that is fairly new but I am not sure it is really worth what I pay for it each month.

I have done this and it does work. The catch is you can’t download anything else since there will be no connection.
@Ashley, thanks for confirming. But if you pick up new books, they would still be in the queue for download as soon as you reconnect to Wi-Fi, right?
Yep. So once you connect again you will get your new downloads and the expired loans will delete.
@Laura you also can take it out again “legally” if there’s no wait list.
Carole and Ashley, thanks for the great info. I’m going to try it!
@Laura just make sure you check to see if there are holds on the book.
I’ve had it and cancelled it. I wasn’t getting a return on my “investment” consistently. I used it for 1 or 2 books a month that would have cost me 3-5$ each to buy through prime or nothing if I got them from library. I love it! I can always find something I like and many come with the audio book, too.
I have the kindle unlimited. I find that it has a very large variety of books to choose from. The cost of it is pretty close to one new book , so if I read more than one book a month I feel like I got my money’s worth. It has also led me to some authors I had not read before. All in all I say it’s a good deal
But you don’t get to keep the books in your Kindle library, so I think it is a rip off. I cancelled mine.
I do not re-read books So, that wouldn’t bother me.
I don’t normally re-read either, but I like to share my books with friends and family.
Overall I haven’t been happy with the selection. There are more free offerings daily that don’t require the extra subscription and $$!
I tried it. Didn’t like it .
I had it but ended up cancelling it. The selection wasn’t good. I just download from my library now.
I love it
I loved it. When hubby wouldn’t let me buy real books I could get on there and rent them for 9.99 a month. Still prefer real books but kindle works in a pinch.

I love it .. It’s worth
