Do you use your librarys option for ebooks and can you use your phone for it?
Do any of you use your librarys option for ebooks? If so, can you use your phone for it?
Do any of you use your librarys option for ebooks? If so, can you use your phone for it?
I do. But I usually download the books from Amazon on my Kindle app which I do have on my phone.
OverDrive on IPhone, Kindle, and laptop.
I too have kindle app on phone and OVERDRIVE. Use it all the time.
I download ebooks from the New York Public Library to my kindle through Amazon or the Cloud Library.
I use overdrive through my library all the time. Its definitely worth it
Overdrive. I do audio books more, but can also do ebooks.
Yes
Overdrive and CloudLibrary both work on my phone and my Kindle. However, syncing books between my two devices can be a bit wonky.
Yes. My library offers Hoopla Digital and OverDrive, and I use the apps on my iPhone and iPad.
Yes and yes
Yes and yes. Overdrive. Phone is usually for audio from Overdrive, but books if traveling.
I do use overdrive on my phone, as well as Libby and Hoopla.
Yes, and yes.
Overdrive/ Libby app!
Yes and yes.
Yes, but have not used it.
Yes, I use my overdrive for ebooks on my iPad. Don’t know about the iPhone.
yes, I love using my library’s ebooks. Watch the format, but you can read them on multiple devices including an iphone and a laptop.
Yes and yes.
Yes and yes. Overdrive and book library… can use kindle app in nyc library
I use Hoopla on my phone.
I borrow audio books from the library. My son listens to them on my ipad at bed time.
Yes and yes. It’s easy and convenient.
Yes and yes! Love it!
Yes and yes! I use hoopla and overdrive either on my kindle or phone.
Yes, I use my iPad. My phone is too old.
Me too.
Yes. Ipad and iPhone. Kindle with Overdrive.
Yes and yes. The challenge I have is I put books on hold several come in around the same time. While I’m in the middle of reading something else. Then the expire before I can get them read. ?
I use overdrive too but I can only get it work on my Nook. Love it
Yes and yes! Overdrive is the BEST.
Yes. Best deal ever. Free
Yup!! Audio and ebook!
Yes! Overdrive. I’m old so I read on my iPAD mini, phone is too small ?. Get audiobooks from the library too. I ❤️ the library!
Yes, it’s less disruptive for my husband when I read in the middle of the night. I keep it set on sepia and can adjust the light. I use the Kindle app and Overdrive, both on my phone.
Yes, you just check them out to your kindle and then you can read on whatever device that you use to read Kindle books.
Yas and yes with OverDrive
Yes and yes
Yes I use Overdrive app on my phone to download ebooks and eaudiobooks from my library. The ebooks sync with my kindle app on my phone and with my kindle
Yes! And you can switch devices and pick up where you left off. Overdrive, I hear, is being replaced by Libby. Both work right now but I think overdrive will be phased out.
I really like overdrive and didn’t see the need for Libby. I hope Overdrive isn’t replaced. Love the library. I get magazines too.
Yes
yes and yes, though I only read on my phone when I’m out and about and can grab a few minutes to read. I use my phone mostly for audiobooks I check out.
Yes. I use OverDrive. We live between the two different branches of our library (Pioneer and Metropolitan … OK City Libraries) so I have library cards for both, so I have a bigger variety to choose from. I really need to check and see if they participate in the interlibrary loan thing and, if they do, how to do it with OverDrive.
I haven’t tried Libby (yet). I installed Hoopla, created an account (on website) however now I’m stuck on the site w/no way to log out, and the app doesn’t seem to want to let me log in/on. Oy.
yes. Oakland works less well than other libraries but it can be done.
Yes you can but it was too small to enjoy myself. It takes a lot of storage too
Yes, I do! I have the kindle app on my phone and I borrow books via overdrive. I rather the kindle app to the overdrive app, but you can use either one. The ebook files are generally really small and don’t take up much room, but the apps themselves are pretty large.
Yes.
Yes.
Overdrive! Yes! There is a mobile app!
My library uses Overdrive. I can read on any device with the Kindle app. I love it.
Yes and yes. ?
Yes! Listened to my last e/audiobook from the library!
Yes and y
Yes, Overdrive and hoopla both on the phone , on the tablet and the laptop, too. Books always at hand that way.
How do you read Hoopla on a device other than your phone? It probably doesn’t work with a kindle or nook, huh?
It should. I can use mine on my phone and computer. They have an app. It should work on tablets also. If you have a web browser app on your tablet, and the phone app isn’t working, you can just log in to hoopla through the web browser.
Won’t work on dedicated ereaders like glowlight nook but will work on nook or kindle tablets.
So now I must confess that in addition to the phone, the tablet, 2 laptops, I also have a nook ereader. I do have a reading on a device problem, don’t I???
I only have the Nook & Kindle e-readers. Not tablets. Darn.
@Chrissy You might want to try it to see … it depends on the formats offered by the library. If Kindle is an option, when you select that as your format, you should be redirected to Amazon which will then give you the options “Get from library” and your choice of device.
@Lynda that works for me with Overdrive, but I haven’t seen the option with Hoopla.
@Chrissy Oh, gotcha. I missed that that was your specific question!
I use it all the time. It works on my iPhone, but I prefer reading on my Kindle.
Yes! Currently reading Dracula on Overdrive on my phone. Have the audio book The Dog Stars checked out, so that I can listen to and from work.
I have an original Kindle. Has anyone been about to use Overdrive on theirs? I’m not having any luck. I do use it on my cell, tablet and laptop but I love the feel of my Kindle.
I had to upgrade my Kindle about a year ago to be compatible with the Overdrive upgrades.
I just got the $50 Fire, though. And it works great with Overdrive.
Thanks. I knew it would work on the newer Kindles but I love my original! It’s a dinosaur but a beloved one….?
Yeah, I have the Fire, also. It works great on mine, too. My problem is, our library sucks!. In Missouri, you have to show proof that you live in the county where the library is, so where I grew up had a great library, but nobody I know lives in that county anymore
Yes. Overdrive! Yes, I can use my phone, also.
Absolutely love e books from library. Kindle app on my phone works. Overdrive.
Check out the Hoopla app
Except they only allow 8 titles a month. Not enough for me.
It varies from library. I get 15. I use mostly for comics
No takes to long where I am at
After you choose a book from your library, it is available for you to download whenever you want. So you can accept the loan, then download to your phone when you are somewhere that has faster internet service. Did this for a long time before I got high speed internet.
Yes! Overdrive is the best app ever!
