❤️Rex Stout’s Nero Wolfe books are AWESOME if you’re in the mood for light murder mysteries. (No order necessary) ❤️The Harry Bosch series is excellent for more serious, police procedural type stories. (Also no order necessary) ❤️You can’t go wrong with Sherlock Holmes—also anything by Agatha Christie, of course! ❤️There’s also true crime by Anne Rule, which is satisfying to see real criminals get their comeuppance
Victoria Thompson’s Gaslight Mysteries series. Tana French’s Dublin Murder Squad series. Robert Galbraith’s Cormoran Strike series. Jeffery Deaver’s Lincoln Rhyme series. And, of course, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s and Agatha Christie’s mysteries.
Try Michael Connelly. I’m going from one to the next one in the series every couple of days. Thoroughly enjoying them. Also, Sue Grafton’s ABC mysteries.
Patricia Cornwell’s Kay Scarpetta mysteries are fantastic; Diane Mott Davidson’s Goldy Schultz mysteries are great fun; Lillian Jackson Braun’s The Cat Who… mysteries are both; it’s one of my all-time favorite series!!
The show has nothing on the books. The characters are taken from the books but everything else is completely different. The books are very dark. And if you know Rizzoli’s background (that whole the Surgeon arc), I would recommend skipping the first two books of the series because I didn’t like them very much but book 3 and beyond are very thrilling and capturing…

The Lord Peter Wimsey Series by Dorothy L. Sayers?
Agatha Raisin. They’re a bit dated, but really fun.
Another really good series is Jonathan Kellerman’s Alex Delaware books – they’re psychological thrillers, and he’s a master storyteller.
The Cat Who Read Backwards.
