They all sound good. Murder on the orient express got me thinking about the queen of murder mystery. Agatha Christie. I want to watch the movie murder on the orient express so I’m going with and then there were none by Agatha Christie.
James Crumley-“The Last Good Kiss” ( you gotta love that title, and a great read); or Charles McCarry’s Miernik Dossier. There is also a whole world of Bibliomystery—Mysteries with a literary or bookish bent.
There are some classics that could give you an idea of whether or not you will like them. Dorothy Sayers “The Nine Tailors” or Agatha Christie’s “And then there were none” come to mind.
Anything by Agatha Christie. Seriously, if you’ve never read a murder mystery, that is the best place, in my view, to start :-). I’m reading the first Hercule Poirot book right now, Peril At End House, and it’s great!
Agatha Christie’s ‘And Then There Were None,’ ‘Death On The Nile’ or ‘Evil Under The Sun’ are good places to start. Or ‘The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.’ Or ‘Murder Must Advertise’ or ‘Whose Body?’ by Dorothy L Sayers. Or ‘A Surfeit of Lampreys’ by Ngaio Marsh.
Holmes and Agatha Christie have both been recommended. Agree completely! My favorite Holmes story is The Redheaded League, and favorite murder story is The Speckled Band.
Christie you have to go with Orient express!
