A massive fan of thriller/murder/investigation books looking for something new to read.
Hi all, merry Christmas!
I’m looking for something new to read… I’m a massive fan of thriller/murder/investigation books…
Any recommendations? I’ve recently read KL Slater, Mark Edwards, Rachel Abbot…
Thanks in advance! Xxx
I am currently reading Lacy Eye by Jessica Treadway! I think it is a good book, but it is a very slow start. The author spends a lot of time on the back story.
You can try Sydney Sheldon . ‘Tell me your dreams’ is my favourite
David Baldacci’s (anything he writes). Listening to The Fix now and love how complex and multi-layered the involved crime is.
Currently reading Every Fifteen Minutes. It’s about a sociopath and it’s realllly good so far
If you haven’t delved into Scandinavian crime/police detective fiction, you are missing out. (I’m obsessed!) Lars Kepler, Karin Fossum, Jo Nesbo, Henning Mankell, and Hakan Nesser all have excellent series, and that is just the tip of that iceberg…no pun intended.
I have read many of these authors. I just started Mari Jungstedt for next month’s Mystery Group meeting.
Book one!
Jo Nesbo is great.
Jussi Adler-Olsen also has a great series; Department Q
How about something to watch, that is a psychological thriller, called the killing. Can be found in Netflix.
I’ve watched this! I’ve about rinsed Netflix of this kind of programme ?
Black Echo. It’s the first Bosch novel. Michael Connelly I think is the author.
Bosch is my all-time favorite fictional detective.
I’ve read all the Harry Bosch novels. Love Michael Connelly!
Definitely all of Michael Connelly’s books!
I really love the Cormoran Strike novels by Robert Galbraith (JK Rowling). Great characters and interesting mysteries.
I’m adding all of these to my goodreads!
I second Michael Connelly, I love his Harry Bosch and Lincoln Lawyer series. Just finished (last night!) Magpie Murders, homage to Agatha Christie, so good! Also James Lee Burke and John Connelly both write wonderful mysteries
Stuart MacBride & Val McDermid
Also a huge fan of those kinds of books. I highly recommend the DI Helen Grace series by M. J. Arlidge.
Eeny Meeny is the first book, and I was HOOKED after that book. Also, Hades by Candice Fox is really good. Three books that i know of, I’ve only read the first two. I’m anxiously awaiting the third book to get to my library.
the bird box by Josh Malerman
A Brilliant Death by Robin Yocum
I like the Lincoln Rhymes series by Jeffery Deaver, Catherine Coulter’s FBI series, the In Death series by JD Robb. I just started Chelsea Cain’s series that starts with Heartsick. Stillhouse Lake is great and the second book in the series just came out last week!
Love the In Death Series!
There are 2 series I like that i havent seen here: Rev Claire Ferguson & Russ Van Alstyne by Julia Spencet-Fleming. Also Temperance Brennen series by Kathie. Reich’s (Not at all like the TV show!!!)
Spencer-Fleming!
I like both of them. I wish Julia Spencer-Fleming would come out with a new book.
The Marriage Lie. It’s a kindle daily deal today. ?
Jonathan Kellerman, Faye Kellerman, and Sue Grafton are three of my favorites. I am also a fan of Michael Connelly, David Baldachi, Robert Craig and Lee Child.
Robert Crais?
@Jill Yes! Robert Craig!
Harlan Coben is great!
Cycles of Time – Revenge is Mine
Killers of the flower moon.
I liked In the Woods, The Likeness, and Faithful Place by Tana French.
I read In the woods and really liked it!
@Stacey I think Tana French is the best ever. You must read her other books!
Thanks, I will!!!
Love Harlan Coben.
Be sure to start reading Coben in order. Especially the Myron series
Lisa Jackson is good!
The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware
The Surgeon
I’m reading Island of Lost Girls by Jennifer McMahon right now, so far so good.
Love!
Dorothy L. Sayers wrote the Lord Peter Wimsey series, which is sheer delight. Whose Body? is first.
Josephine Tey’s Bratt Farrar and The Daughter of Time are classics.
For fun, try The Unscratchables, can’t remember author. Tough dog cop, intellectual FBI cat (Feline Bureau of Investigation). Puns galore.
William Lashner does stand alones and a series about Victor Carl, a Philadelphia lawyer who’s smart as hell but always nearly broke (skip the first book). The Accounting is excellent. So is Barkeep.
Sean Doolittle’s The Cleanup has tender characters and a sharp plot.
Sorry ‘ by Zoran Drvenkar is excellent .creepy as hell
A.I.R Series by @Amanda
Look into the Kurt Wallender series by Henning Mankell.
Michele Guitari is very good, especially if you like Italy – Death in Florence, Death in Venice, Death of a Mafia Don …
