Poirot, Rebus, Harry Hole, Kim Stone, Jennifer Knight, Morse. My most disliked is Roy Grace- the man is so rude and arrogant I can’t stand him and the long drawn out saga with his wife-yawn
@Jo He’s the one with the little god-daughter too, right? Have to confess I found his relationship with her a bit creepy. There – I’ve said it – in public 😉
I like Rebus and I have no idea why. Not at all fond of the heavy drinking types. I suspect I would want to slap him in real life, but I do find the books very readable.
Marnie Rome (@Sarah‘s creation). She’s being cleverly unravelled quite slowly, and we are learning more about her and the events that have shaped her with every book, and we are at book 5. She’s evidently got a lot of backstory, but it’s very satisfying as a reader to learn it slowly, as you would with a friend. Really highly recommend the books, starting with Somebody Else’s Skin.
@Susan, it’s James Lee Burke’s police officer/detective in many but not all of his books. The other perhaps lesser-known detective is Hoke Moseley, from Charles Willeford’s series.
I’m a Miss Marple fan but I’m also a little in love with a private eye called Jake Caldwell, who is the hero of a couple of books by James L. Weaver who shares my Lakewater Press publisher. Might not be to everyone’s taste – cross between Marlowe and Jack Reacher.
Alex Fox in @Mel and Linda Pather deception series
Thanks, Sarah. @Linda and I are halfway through the next book in the Deception series. ??
Interesting!!
Probably John Rebus. Or maybe Roy Grace! There are so many I like!
Rebus and Lasser – just can’t choose between them
But are they different or similar, @Maggie?
I love Lasser too ❤️❤️

Although I have to say there is a guy out there called Lasser who is getting very close!
Gently from many years ago, but kinda like Lasser now.
I haven’t read any of the George Gently books only watched the TV series. Some of the locations are very near to my home
Rebus and grace
Rebus and Harry Bosch. Biased I know, but Inspector Zig Batten is good too…
Currently DI Ted Darling by @Lesley. But so many to choose from.
Thanks for the very kind mention
Rebus and Morse
Marc Craig by Catriona King
New to me! Who is the author @Elina?

It’s a great writer, not a single dissapointing read. You should try it!

Ahh, I wish I could love Harry Hole! Have to go with Rebus or Logan McRae
Miss Marple
Poirot, Rebus, Harry Hole, Kim Stone, Jennifer Knight, Morse. My most disliked is Roy Grace- the man is so rude and arrogant I can’t stand him and the long drawn out saga with his wife-yawn
Love Kim Stone!
Never did understand the draw of Roy Grace —
Phew! I thought I was the only one who found Roy Grace a cold fish 🙂
What a fantastic woman you are @Lesley 🙂 I’ve been Billy No Mates about Roy Grace for ages 🙂
@Jo He’s the one with the little god-daughter too, right? Have to confess I found his relationship with her a bit creepy. There – I’ve said it – in public 😉
I only read the first two and then the one where hw finally finds out what happened to his wife- he gets off with his pathologist- that was creepy too
@Jo Ugh. Rather glad I’ve not read that one then 🙂
Logan McRae, Tom Thorne, John Rebus and Alan Banks
Anna Travis, Jane Tennison, John Rebus…. but the very best is Sherlock Holmes
I like Rebus and I have no idea why. Not at all fond of the heavy drinking types. I suspect I would want to slap him in real life, but I do find the books very readable.
Rebus and Alan Banks
Ted Darling. Matilda Darke. Jake Flanagan !
LASSER is the best
Alex Cooper, Mike Chapman, and Mercer Wallace from the books by Linda Fairstein
They play Jeopardy! Great trio.
Bryant and May two elderly detectives from a series of books by Christopher Fowler and Charlie Parker from the John Connolly books ?
I thought I knew (European) crime fiction but I don’t recognize half the names here! I’m going to have some studying to do!
Poirot, Miss Marple.
John Rebus, Harry Hole, Mikael Blomkvist, Saga Norén and Martin Rohde.
Thanks, @Mandy.
Tank for me!! ?? Co@Conrad
Yeeey! Thanks Suze ????????
Sherlock Holmes.
ann cleeves
Vera Stanhope? Jimmy Perez? 😉
@Røbert Both!
Kinsey Milhone, Kay Scarpetta and her niece Lucy
Hate Lucy! Too, too perfect … ;(
She is not perfect at all. Lots of insecurities and very aspergic.
Philip Marlowe. But Bosch is starting to run him close …
Andy Dalziel.
Oh yes. One of my favourites. Such a great character.
Insp Banks and Harry Bosch
Elvis Cole, Lew Archer, Dave Robicheaux, Easy Rawlins, Myron Bolitar, Hoke Moseley, Spenser.
Dave Robicbeaux sounds familiar but I can’t place the author
@Susan, it’s James Lee Burke’s police officer/detective in many but not all of his books. The other perhaps lesser-known detective is Hoke Moseley, from Charles Willeford’s series.
Familiar now. Thank you!
Jane Rizzoli
old favourites inc, Banks, Cadfael and Morse. Currently Nikki Galena, Ted Darling, Lasser, Helen Grace. lots more to add
Thanks for the kind mention for Ted Darling 🙂
@Lesley Ted is a brilliant creation and currently one of my favourites…he is so refreshing! Deserves a larger audience x
@Heather Thank you, that is most kind. He’s certainly different 😉
Sherlock!
Ted Darling!
Oh thank you! He is blushing 😉
Aww bless him. ?
@Hilary You know what he’s like 😉
