I don’t normally read historical fiction but I really enjoyed The Case of the Missing Bride by Carmen Radtke – it’s an unusual setting with a feisty heroine, cosy mystery and a touch of romance. And A Matter of Love and Death by the same author (under the pseudonym Caron Albright) is great fun, set in 1930s Adelaide.
Tracey Chevalier has written lots of really good books of historical fiction based on facts. My mum and I hated / didn’t finish her most recent At the Edge of the Orchard, but we liked all the others.
