Blake Crouch’s Run is a great adult mountain/ on the run book.
I second this recco!
Bird Box
Descent by Tim Johnston
The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon by Stephen King
Into Thin Air
Getting ready to start the Mountain Between Us. The movie version stars Kate Winslet and Idris Elba so hoping it’s good 🙂 ?
Wild
The book is much much better than the movie
Alive
The Stranger in the Woods by Michael Finkle!!!
Sounds just like what you’re looking for…
I read this not too long ago. Great writing but I had mixed feelings about Christopher. His story would make a great book club discussion!
@Georgina yes, definitely mixed feelings! I agree, it would be a great book club discussion.
I’ve read it! Fascinating, for sure.
I liked how Finkel went beyond the story itself. There has been so much written about Knight, so you can go well beyond the book. I’m from Maine and North Pond is just beyond where my in-laws had their camp. It’s a beautiful area.
@Mamie Curious to know if you think he had help?
A lot of people think he could not have done it all by himself, but if you pay attention to the particulars of the story and given the power of the mind, I believe he was alone.
Into Thin Air, In To The Wild, anything on the Donner Party, The Revenant
Revenant is a good choice too
Hatchet? It’s a young adult book but damn it stuck with me for 20 years ?
The Stranger In the Woods is a good read. Especially seeing as its a true story.
Hatchet by Gary Paulsen is for teens, but I liked it as an adult.
Yes, and this is a series
It’s apocalyptic but Ashfall by Mike Mullin is about surviving after the Yellowstone super volcano erupting. Lots of survival situations. Very suspenseful, lots of adult themes even though the main character is 15.
I’ll check it out! Love apocalyptic stuff.
Touch the Top of the World which is the true story of a blind mountain climber who tackles the Seven Summits. Truly amazing and inspiring.
Into the Forest by Jean Hegland. Civilization ceases and two sisters are trying to survive in a redwood forest.
Loved this book. ❤️
I live in a redwood forest! I’m so excited to read it 🙂
@Bron I’m jealous. My dream is to spend lots of time in a forest like that.
Drop City, The Great Alone
The Marsh King’s Daughter was great.
The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon.
Love that book. I actually have it in a pop up book too
Possibly off this track. I liked The Salt Path.
The Outlander by Gil Adamson
Into Thin Air by John Krakow ( I might have his last name spelled wrong).
Wild by Cheryl Strayed.
The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah; Into The Wild by John Krakauer
The Mountain Between Is by Charles Martin
I’m glad you posted this, My Side of the Mountain has been on my mind lately.
The Dog Stars
The Great Alone was FANTASTIC!!! Not really scary, but has some intense scenes, love, adventure. It’s a wonderful read!
F
Cold mountain. Alive.

Our Endless Numbered Days by Claire Fuller
