Not, yet, but I plan to. I image, in the last couple of days, every bookstore and library in America has been answering the phone, “Thank you for calling. Are you inquiring about Sing, Unburied, Sing or Fire and Fury?” ?
\I don’t like books with “supernatural” creatures or experiences, so I am not going to read this book, though it is presumable excellent since it was chosen by a group of experts.
I’m just about finished. It has some mystical elements to it. It’s beautifully written, and I recommend it. Not an easy read, but easy to get into. Every once in a while I have to reread a page. Usually when Richie is the narrator.
I’m currently reading it and have mixed emotions. For some curious reason I have an aversion to the Jojo nickname. There is an over abundance of descriptive narrative for my taste and the characters feel as if I’ve met them before in other works. Having said all that I’ve only finished chapter two. I wonder if my opinion will change the further I get into it?
Stayed up all night to finish it. I hardly ever am compelled to do that any longer. Her style is the draw, the situations are beyond sad, the multiple voices that tell the story are at least vibrant and clearly marked.
Read it about a month ago and was so struck by the overall sense of sorrow. It depicts lives and culture that are deeply instilled with sorrow and acceptance.
If you’re waiting on this book and haven’t read her two novels Salvage the Bones (also a National Book Award winner) and Where the Line Bleeds, I highly, highly recommend both.
Reading now. Beautiful and sorrowful. I feel completely immersed in the story; like I am in the room in every scene and that’s the best thing I can say about any book.
Reading along with this new online book club: https://www.pbs.org/newshour/features/now-read-this/
Just picked it up from library a few minutes ago. Getting ready to make some tea and settle in for an afternoon read.

Yes.
Yeah
I loved it! I enjoyed it so much I picked up her other book, Salvage the Bones. She has a very unique voice. She has a memoir, also.
Just started it & am so in love

You know, I don’t like that either. But, in this book it works well. I found myself thinking of the “ghosts” as long term memories and history.
My online book club is reading that one for January but most of us are still waiting on the book
Best book that I read in 2017. Difficult-sad-heavy But Ward’s writing is sublime!
Just started it…I really like it so far
I’m reading it for one of my land book clubs, and I really like it. The characters are authentic and rich in personality.
It’s my next read.
Mine too
Read…glad I did. Yet didn’t like it as well as many have said. But always good to read things that push you. She is obviously a great writer.

I’m on my library’s waiting list.
I had to wait weeks to get it from my library’s wait list. Hang in there! It’s worth it.
I’m getting ready to start it for the new PBS book club.
Me too.
I’m also going to read it with the PBS book club. I got it on my Kindle.

Waitlist too.

I read it. It’s good.
I am starting soon. I bought and downloaded it today
Started reading it and could not get into the pacing of the narrative. Had to put it down and wait till I’m in the right mood.

I read it. It was good. Didn’t love it.
It’s so emotional and sad. I’m going to need a comedy after this one.
(Update: Finished it. Dark and depressing, but beautifully written. Would say I liked Salvage the Bones better.)
Currently reading it in advance of Jesmyn Ward lecture event in Seattle (also reading it because of the new PBS Book Club thing).
I’m doing that too. I hope their next pick is a little lighter.
