I love exercising! Jumping to conclusions, raising my eyebrows, usually raising my voice. And always running from responsibilities and consequences. ???
Oh if it’s going to be THAT kind of thread… losing my temper, shopping online, getting out of muddy dog walks, moaning at my husband, losing the plot occasionally. Lol.
Spinning. I like to spin on spinning wheel, drop spindle, and supported spindle. I am currently spinning for a scarf I plan to make, with a stripe of each of the fibers I currently have. Many strange ones, beside the obvious of wool and cotton: beaver, mink, fox, buffalo, muskox, yak, chinchilla, rabbit, camel, alpaca, crab chitin, milk protein.
(Note, unlike with mink fur, which includes the skin of the creature, using the fiber from the creature does not require killing it. Some creatures are sheared, others are gently brushed. And creatures like American buffalo are given shelters during the winter, surrounded by bushes, so when they leave in the spring their shedding winter coat rubs off on the bushes and can be gathered later, safely, by the buffalo rancher.)
All of this means I listen to books these days far more than I read the paper versions. It is hard to look at the page and keep the thread or yarn even at the same time.
After I spin, and before I knit, I boil the yarn. To make sure everything has shrunk as much as it is going to before it is knit. Don’t want to wash it later and have cotton and wool stripes shrink and the silk ones not. I just pulled the latest boiled hank out of the pot, and was amazed at how it had changed. It is organic cotton, started out faintly greenish tinged, mostly pale yellowish. Now it is vivid green! I never expected that!
I wish we talked about books and what’s in them, not random stuff. Once in a while it’s ok, but I see more and more questions that have nothing to do with books. Maybe it’s just me…
I think what you’re seeing is a reflection of the algorithm, which spikes visibility of certain posts with tons of engagement. People love to talk about themselves, and, voila.
I perfectly understand what you mean…. We are just trying to catch some fun and share stuffs with one another….. You do not have to engage in anything if you don’t feel comfortable… Thank for sharing ur thoughts…?
In college I came up with the phrase “productive procrastination”. Instead of writing the term paper or whatever assignment I was dreading, I’d clean my closets (organize, scrub the walls, shelves, and floors of them), volunteer to walk my elderly neighbor’s dog, whatever I could think of at the time to prolong what I needed to do. I wasn’t lazy (then)…I stayed quite busy doing all these tasks that I didn’t need to do.
Cooking, building people up, arguing with my husband (married 24 years, it’s just our thing), collecting planner supplies and pens, finding excuses to go to Starbucks, and still believing the best in people even after they disappoint me.
I am an artist…. mostly ceramics and collage… But I haven’t met an art or a craft that I haven’t enjoyed… I am also an excellent traveler… And I think I am a good teacher.
Thanks Melissa. I wasn’t discounting it (even though it does look funny amidst “real” talents). I actually do consider it something of a gift. It’s not that I don’t ever get angry or aggravated. But I can find an upside almost anywhere and it makes me happy. ?
@Laura I know what you mean! There are those of us who can elevate it to an art form! It’s one of the reasons I’ve become a FABULOUS contingency planner…I should add THAT to my list❣️

Helping people to achieve their goals and stop annoying others. (Executive coach and Conflict coach) And over the past year, finding creative ways to channel an undercurrent of ire in productive directions.
Yes, anger. Not a healthy place to live, and not healthy to suppress, so best rechanneled in a positive direction. Making it a constructive catalyst, rather than a destructive force

I wish we talked about books and what’s in them, not random stuff. Once in a while it’s ok, but I see more and more questions that have nothing to do with books. Maybe it’s just me…
I scrolled through OP’s 10 most recent posts. This is the only non-book one. You can click on OP’s name and scroll down to do same.
I think what you’re seeing is a reflection of the algorithm, which spikes visibility of certain posts with tons of engagement. People love to talk about themselves, and, voila.
No malice intended, just clarifying.
Then it’s probably just me. I know I don’t see every single post made. 🙂
Yeah, no worries, I know there’s no bad intentions or anything
Thank you! I didn’t want to mention the “squad”, but you read my mind exactly! How do I block a person’s posts? Let me see if I can find the option…
