I just got a kindle fire for 35 bucks. It’s so much lighter than my iPad. Kindle is where it is at for reading.

I was amazed at how much lighter the fire is!! The paperwhite is half that! Got it so I could read while outside.

Charise

@Lou yeah I wanted the paperwhite as I didn’t need the tablet but I’m cheap and went with the cheapest

Both! I actually enjoy the reading experience better using the Kindle app on my iPad….it’s easier to use, and looks more like a book. It’s also much easier to navigate than the Kindle. But, I prefer my Kindle for when I’m reading at night because it is much easier on the eyes, much lighter and smaller to hold. My Kindle is also my favorite thing to take with me to read, if I’m traveling, or going somewhere where I will have a lot of down time.

If reading only, I’d say the Kindle. It has a different light. You can read at night on a Kindle, and it doesn’t keep you awake.

With the iPad, I can adjust the background color and the font color. I like the ivory background with the brown font, much easier on the eyes!

Kindle paperwhite, hands down. I cant read on my iPad- I dont like the screen for long periods of time, and I get too distracted with other apps. My paperwhite is my most prized possession after my kids lol. I’d beg borrow and steal to replace it if the need ever arises?

@Jessica I love your post and it certainly brought a smile to me. I agree with you!!
Jokingly I told my husband the only promise I need is the promise I will always have a Kindle Paperwhite.
Thanks for the smile

I like the iPad, only because the Kindles kept freezing up right after the warranty was up.

I had one that did that, and called Amazon and got a replacement at a very much reduced rate.

Yes. I like the 2-page format I can get on the app but reading on the iPad drains the battery. The Kindle is easier on my eyes and fits nicely in my purse.

Kindle and Nook. For the same reason some people say they love a “Real” book because of how it feels in their hands, I find my Kindle easer because of my arthritis. But in truth, it isn’t the format but the story and the writing.

If you have an iPad you can read from the Kindle App, the iBooks App, the Kobo App, etc., but if you have a Kindle you can only read from Amazon! I have an iPad!

1

I don’t read from Amazon on the kindle. All of my books are in playbooks on Google. I send my books to the kindle app?. I think it’s a matter of the kindle is smaller, lighter, no social media distractions, etc.

I have a kindle ..a nook, an iPad and 2 Samsung tabs 1 7″, and 1 10″……I must confess, I am not in live with my kindle and more often than not defer to one of the Samsung’s and use the nook or kindle app.

Kathy

I considering a Samsung tablet and adding apps for both nook and kindle. How do you like the apps on your tablet? Nook is my reader of choice, have added a kindle app to the oldest one since I’m getting ARC’s from Net Galley. I’m running out of space and need a new one!

0
Micheale

They work pretty much the same as each e reader. I have just the little kindle fire hd….not impressed with that at all, its klunky and kinda generic. The nook tablet is good. I just bought one for hubby for Christmas. I have a 256gb micro sd, so even with about 35 movies downloaded for offline viewing, i still have plenty of room for apps, books and music.

Micheale

I usually defer to my samsung tablet, i dont like iTunes book app either, i cant seem to delete books i no longer want, i only use itunes for a book if it is my only option

I had to do that, too. The reading experience is better on my iPad. I use my kindle if I’m reading in bed at night, or if I’m traveling.
