I have the Nook Glowlight Plus, but got it strictly for philosophical reasons over the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite. However, if you want a superior reading experience, the Kindle beats the Nook without much of a sweat. With that said, I’ll still never own a Kindle.
I have used my tablet for reading but I prefer my kindle. My basic kindle with no backlight. Still reads like a book. I enjoy reading in a reading chair under a lamp. Holds a bunch of books and was cheap during the holidays so I don’t mind tossing it around.
I like my Kindle Oasis. Lightweight, water resistant, and light adaptive. I would go with the new Paperwhite, though. It’s about the same thing as the Oasis, but cheaper. I’m mad that I bought the Oasis and a few months later a cheaper option came out. ??
Kindle Fire! By far the best. Have read on the paper white and while reading in the sun is a benefit that is the only benefit; but, I read on the Fire in sunlight as well. I have read on both and much, much, much prefer the Fire. Love that I can read at night without light on so hubs can sleep?. I am addicted to my Kindle. Plus it drops in your handbag, easy to take along!
I’ve gotten spoiled by my Kindle, which surprised me, because I use my iPad so much. Just lighter, and I’m not as tempted to check FB or mail, or get distracted by other apps or games (but I also end up getting up to check certain places or historical facts that are easier to get to and read on my iPad.) Still, for just reading, Kindle.
I use Kindle Paperwhite and like it. I also will read on my iPad and iPhone–whatever’s with me at the time. Nook would be fine too, but it depends mostly on which ecosystem you are invested in. I have lots of Kindle books and audible books, and I like that they sync together so I can choose how to read depending on what I’m doing. I’ve also heard good things about Kobo with its easy access to library books.
Ipad, it supports all the apps from overdrive, libby, ibooks, kindle and nook. All for the price of one! Although i think it is the most expensive option?
I have a Kindle Paperwhite and an iPad and I tend to use the iPad more. I just like having larger pages. ?♀️ Plus, they’re awesome for comic books, too. ?
Real books or iPHONE! Yes, I literally read tons of books on my tiny screen. Easier to hold for a long time than my iPad, & I’ve never bought a dedicated reader….
Actually, it’s frustrating — I used to be able to SYNC between my iPhone & iPad on Overdrive so I could read the same book on either, but now it won’t let me download a book I’ve checked out on two devices. Grrrr. Anyone else encountered this?
For pleasure reading? Kindle or iPhone, then I switch to my Ipad before I fall to sleep. I love that I can sync my reading from the phone to the ipad kindle. For much nonfiction, I try paper whenever possible.
I have an iPad and a Kindle Paperwhite. Definitely prefer the Kindle. Way easier on my eyes. I can get Overdrive and library books on it too, no problem.
Love my Kindle Paperwhite, and both my Samsung tablet, and my iPad, (with Nook, and 10 other book apps…) I always have something charged and loaded with what I want to read.
I bought the new Kindle Paperwhite (2018) having never owned an e-reader before. I couldn’t recommend it highly enough!
I live in a remote area of China, so getting English books delivered is difficult at the best of times. It makes the process so much easier, plus I travel around a lot. Considering it’s lighter than most books and fits in a large pocket, it’s a win-win situation.
Kindle Paperwhite for the following reasons: No glare, because it is not backlit, contrary to misconceptions. Both Kindles and Paperwhites do not have backlight. The paperwhite has a whiter page appearance than the original. It also has tiny lights embedded between the outer screen and the case, giving it more of an even illumination. The old kindle has, if I remember correctly, only lights on one end, making it uneven and harder to read. The first ones had no lights at all unless you bought a separate case with a book light. The paperwhite is the easiest Kindle to read. Unlike backlit devices like tablets and phones, you can read in the brightest outdoor settings, and that’s a huge deal breaker for me.
I use the Nook app on a tablet (not iPad).
Nook app on iPad
I use kindle, nook, and Audible apps on my iPad mini.
I have the Nook Glowlight Plus, but got it strictly for philosophical reasons over the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite. However, if you want a superior reading experience, the Kindle beats the Nook without much of a sweat. With that said, I’ll still never own a Kindle.

Kindle paperwhite
Kindle works netter outside than an iPad does
I have used my tablet for reading but I prefer my kindle. My basic kindle with no backlight. Still reads like a book. I enjoy reading in a reading chair under a lamp. Holds a bunch of books and was cheap during the holidays so I don’t mind tossing it around.
Ipad
Kindle Paperwhite hands down.
My kindle held a charge much longer than my nook
My phone
I am a huge Kindle Paperwhite fan, I am so so glad I invested in it. Read on it 99% of the time now.
Kindle
Kobo
How do you like it? I’m not crazy about my Nook Glowlight Plus, and have been keeping an eye on the Kobo as a replacement.
I love my Kobo Aura
me too
@Aaron i have two, they are great although having said that I think most ereaders do the job.
iPad is fine
Kindle paperwhite is awesome
Gotta go kindle or iPad man. It also depends if you need more from your tablet or you’re just looking for an ebook reader too though
Kindle Paperwhite or Kindle Oasis (basically a souped up Paperwhite).
Kindle
Paper book
I would say the kindle app but I find its better on a tablet to read
Kindle. So much easier on my eyes than any other form, including paper since I can’t adjust the font with paper books.
Kindle. Distraction free compared to the iPad.
Kindle paper white
Kindle Oasis
Love my kindle paperwhite
Kindle
iPad and iPhone
Kindle paper white. I tried the iPad but didn’t like it. It’s too bright and it’s heavier.
Kindle and the with the app on my iPhone—they sync.
Paper white. Easy on the eyes. Not all the extra BS. Unless you want the games, to browse the internet and apps.
I can’t seem to read a book on my iPad or kindle I prefer a book I wish I could get out of this mindset it would be so much easier lol
I have the samsung nook..i did look at the new nook..not samsung
Love my Nook. Fits in my bag so never without it!
IPad with the kindle app.
Kindle
Kindle Paperwhite. So easy on the eyes and lightweight. Plus you can read it outside.
Nook app on my tablet.
Nook for years, now iPad with apps for Nook, Kindle, and iBooks, and a PDF reader for books from other random sources.
I use the iPad but the kindle I gave to someone was the kind you could read out in the sunlight. Can’t do that with the iPad.
I like my Kindle Oasis. Lightweight, water resistant, and light adaptive. I would go with the new Paperwhite, though. It’s about the same thing as the Oasis, but cheaper. I’m mad that I bought the Oasis and a few months later a cheaper option came out. ??
Sitting in a chair with a cuppa:
1. Dead tree book
2. Kindle paperwhite
3. iPad
In bed: Kindle paperwhite.
I love that we have all those options, along with audio books.
Kindle ?
I use the Kindle because the screed does not have a glare.
Kindle Paper White! I have read on all three and the Paper White wins big time.
I use the Kindle app on my notepad.
Noo
Nook?
@Aaron yea :)…sorry
@Aaron we use both nook and kindle..I prefer my nook.
If you might read in the sunshine you might want a paper white for the glare. I use a regular Kindle but my husband has the paper white.
Kindle paper white!
iPad
IPad with Kindle app
Kindle paper white, iPads are too heavy in my opinion. But, it’s a preference
I love my backlit kindle paperwhite. I don’t like reading on phone/iPad screens and I don’t have to worry as much about the battery on the kindle.
I have a kobo that I love! But maybe that’s only a Canadian thing?
All of the above.
I love my Nook
Yes and yes and yes.
Books!!
Kindle! Even though I haven’t bought mine yet? I recommend it
I have a nook tablet which I love.
Kindle paper white!
kindle paper white, for sure!
iPad. Downloads books from everyone and does so much more
Kindle paperwhite.
I usually read books, but I have used my iPad to read books from the public library app, Overdrive. It works very well.
Kindle Paperwhite
Libby works well to borrow library books to your Kindle.
iPad because you can do so many other things with it as well. And I use Libby as an app. I can also use the Kindle app.
I have a kindle paperwhite and I love it! I used to own a Kindle fire, but didn’t like trying to read it while outside because the of the glare.
kindle fire
I like the paperwhite.

Any of this gadgets will do the work , all you need is , to read !!
Kindle (I love my Voyage, but they don’t sell them anymore)
how about a BOOK?
There’s no need to be condescending. People have different preferences.
@Kathy and she asked about ereaders
Prefer books myself. Was given a kindle and don’t like it at all.
That’s fine. But that isn’t a license to be condescending on a post specifically about electronic options.
@Robbie, just giving another option!!promoting Libraries, they are free!! Thanks for your note! Have a great day!
I get most of my ebooks that I download into my kindle app on my iPad mini from the library. ?
Love my kindle paper white

Nothing like a real book!
Real books are words arranged to tell a story. Delivery is personal choice.
Yeah… and I do believe the author of this post was asking for our personal choice, no?
Ipad, it supports all the apps from overdrive, libby, ibooks, kindle and nook. All for the price of one! Although i think it is the most expensive option?
@Taylor indeed the most expensive and definitely the most distracting ?
Paid $25 for my tablet has nook on it but use kindle app with overdrive and libby
I love my Nook….and it supports all those other apps also, including Kindle etc., because it is based on a Samsung tablet.
Kindle Paperwhite. Very easy on the eyes, no glare from the screen, and you can read in direct sunlight
I have a Kindle Paperwhite and an iPad and I tend to use the iPad more. I just like having larger pages. ?♀️ Plus, they’re awesome for comic books, too. ?

I have a Kindle Fire that I read library digital books on but my favorite is my Kindle Paperwhite for all the reasons @Jessica said.
I still have an old nook
Kindle Paperwhite 100%.
I read mostly on my kindle, but like them on my iPad library to choose what to read next.
Paper book and iPad Kindle app for home. Kindle for purse, travel and low light reading situations
Wow. I totally agree! (Thought I was weird)
Real books
Kindle or phone, though also love real books. It’s just easier to download them.
Kindle for me.
Kindle. Less eye fatigue, built in dictionary.
Kindle
Kindle, iPad and iPhone. They all work together nicely
I prefer the Kindle Touch because it doesn’t have a backlight. (A backlight is very hard on my eyes.)
Kindle paper white I love!!
Kindle, nook..
All
Paperwhite kindle
Paperwhite
Kindle, paperwhite or the actual book
Kindle. Love dragging my library around.

iPad or android tablet so you can download all the apps. If you get a book or a kindle you are a slave to their apps.
Love my Kindle Paperwhite, and both my Samsung tablet, and my iPad, (with Nook, and 10 other book apps…) I always have something charged and loaded with what I want to read.
Kindle on iPad

I bought the new Kindle Paperwhite (2018) having never owned an e-reader before. I couldn’t recommend it highly enough!
