Yep…and didn’t like it very much (mayhap because I watched the movie first and that killed it for me…plus, LOTR/The Hobbit had happened just before that, so…?)
They belonged to a group of friends called The Inklings (I believe) that got together to discuss their books and other subjects. Look it up, there’s cool info on it.
It is cool! Speaking of the Inklings…if you like CS Lewis then you may like Becoming Mrs.Lewis it is pretty good and talks a little about their group ( the Inklings) and how CS Lewis met his wife.
I have read The Magician’s Nephew, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, and The Horse and His Boy. I want to read the whole series (I have it on Kindle), but as much as I love them, I don’t feel like reading them all at once. Instead, I read one book and then other stuff for a couple of months, until I feel it to be the right time to go back to it. But it is truly wonderful, and I love the style <3
@Cinnamon I read that edition. Donated it to the church library and got myself a boxed set at Costco. Easier to take along to the coffee shop this way. ?
I enjoyed the first two movies when they came out. I had never read the books, so based on the movies and the series’ reputation I bought all 7 books. That was a big mistake! I read the first three and wasn’t impressed and stopped halfway through the fourth which was awful. Ever since, I’m very wary of buying Boxed sets of series unless I’m almost 100% sure I will love them.
@Carol that doesn’t matter, some of my favorite books are children’s fantasy books… The Golden Compass, Harry Potter, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland, etc.
I just had a totally profound epiphany about the correlation between a specific character in this story and the author himself. Like mind blown. It’s one of my favorite series.
I read them all and didn’t like them at all… I forced myself to finish it because they are classics. I watched the movie before so maybe that didn’t help… Also, all the analogies between the Bible and the books made me remember my bible study lessons ?
I read them all when I was in my twenties. I liked the first 2 but as I kept going, I thought the religious undertone wasn’t for me. I did finish them all but wasn’t a fan by the end. I always wondered why Susan didn’t get to go with the others… too much “lipstick, nylon and parties”? (Analogy for worldly desires, I guess). Thought it seemed a bit preachy (sorry, just my opinion).
YES! I was a lucky kid that had an awesome mom that read them all to me and my siblings. Good stories. I’ve read them off and on throughout my youth. I need to read them again and refresh my memory.
…..My favorite has always been “The Magician’s Nephew”. The beginning of it all. Sigh. I seem to be the only one who thinks so. ….. Hint. Never read a book because it is a classic, or because someone else says to. Read the first couple pages in the bookstore. If you can’t get into it don’t. If you come to yourself and find you are twenty pages in, buy that book.
One of my favourites!!
As far as i have read, its great
Yessss …. great book ?
Yes. Loved it.
Oh yes ?
One of my all time favourites – my little gem I picked up in a charity shop for 1 pound several years ago and it’s hardback ?
Lovely books.
Yep…and didn’t like it very much (mayhap because I watched the movie first and that killed it for me…plus, LOTR/The Hobbit had happened just before that, so…?)
@Rohen I think I would have felt the same if I had read LOTR first but I grew up with the Narnia stories. I remember my grandad reading them to me.
@Patricia, I am still committed to give it another shot. ?
Did you know that Lewis and Tolkien were actually really close friends and helped each other out on their respective series (LoTR and Narnia)? ?
@Lisa, yep. ?
Really?
Tolkien and Lewis were bestfriends. ❤

Love it!
Read all 8 many, many times when I was younger ??
I have read The Magician’s Nephew, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, and The Horse and His Boy. @Marija I like the series. Two problems: I’m not good at allegories. And I cannot understand The Silver Chair. ?
On my TBR pile *_*
So many times I’ve lost count!!!
Yesssss! ?
Yes. Around age 15. Loved it at the time. Don’t know about now, but will probably love it again.
Yep
Absolutely one of my favourite series ever!
Love it!
One of my absolute favourites! ❤️
It’s a favorite of mine! ❤️
This SNL short comes to my mind every time Chronicles of Narnia is brought up! ? Loved the books and the movies! ☺️
yes, and loved it! pity that the films missed the origin of the wardrobe!
Loved them all!
I think I’ve read the first two. I have a big book that has all the stories together—I’m hoping to read it again when I finish my current book.
@Cinnamon I read that edition. Donated it to the church library and got myself a boxed set at Costco. Easier to take along to the coffee shop this way. ?
Yes! my favourite.

@Christian remember they were written in a different era. And they are children’s books. Put on a ton of imagination and be ten years old again.
@Carol that doesn’t matter, some of my favorite books are children’s fantasy books… The Golden Compass, Harry Potter, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland, etc.
Yes!! Oh my goodness. Are you reading the whole series? If not, then I highly recommend it! 🙂
Yep
Yes
Loved them as a teen. My all-time favorite quote is from the series:
“Make your choice adventurous stranger
Strike the bell and bide the danger
Or wonder till it drives you mad
What would have followed if you had.”
🙂
I just had a totally profound epiphany about the correlation between a specific character in this story and the author himself. Like mind blown. It’s one of my favorite series.
@Stephen which character are you referring to?
Absolutely love it. My favourite.
I have. And it’s on my list to read again.
I read them all and didn’t like them at all… I forced myself to finish it because they are classics. I watched the movie before so maybe that didn’t help… Also, all the analogies between the Bible and the books made me remember my bible study lessons ?

Love this Series?
I’ve read The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe and I can’t wait to read the whole series
Read the first one
Read them all several times, and I just finished “Becoming Mrs Lewis”, the story of Lewis’ and American Joy Davidman’s courtship and marriage.
There are good. Only story I did not like was about the ape and donkey.
YES! I was a lucky kid that had an awesome mom that read them all to me and my siblings. Good stories. I’ve read them off and on throughout my youth. I need to read them again and refresh my memory.
I read it to my students every year as our fantasy read-aloud! SO good!
A childhood favorite.
I read them and enjoyed them
Yes. I’ve read the entire series. I think the Voyage of the Dawn Treader was one of my favorites.
Yes many times
mattoon,illinois library movies…
I’m reading the series too, but have been reading others in between. I’m reading them in chronological order and am on Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
…..My favorite has always been “The Magician’s Nephew”. The beginning of it all. Sigh. I seem to be the only one who thinks so.

Wonderful
Countless times. Enjoy it!
