Mystery/suspense/psych thrillers keep my eyes on the pages. I want to know what happens next. This genre also sharpens the brain and makes me more alert and observant. My love for historical fiction is much more recent, and it’s like having a whole new world unfold in front of me on the pages of a novel. I enjoy those with fictional characters and storyline set in a true historical background.
Romantic comedy and romantic drama. It’s nice to have an escape from reality sometimes. I LOVE love, so experiencing the butterflies of falling in love or laughing at the witty banter between two characters falling in love is a great way to forget about real life for a while.
Probably fantasy or romance. Romance has it all. Action, adventure, mystery, angst, forgiveness, and best of all: romance! Fantasy is the same except it takes it a step farther with the addition of magic and philosophy. And like someone else commented, what an imagination the authors have! Such detail to create an entire world
Me, too, @Marius. I rarely find other people like us. I just finished Lost City of the Monkey God by Douglas Preston. Most interesting of the 100 non-fiction books I’ve read in the past few years. My favorite is Bellevue by David Oshinsky. You?
Historical fiction…Tudor especially! I just love it! WW2 because I have family who personally experienced that time Psychological Thriller/ mystery because I like trying to figure it out Horror..Stephen King Medical based novels because that’s my field ??????
Historical romance mostly for me even though I do read others. I like the fact that they take you to a different year and add a interesting story that makes you daydream of things that you wish you could have or see.
Fabtasy, particularly those with female main characters! Because I love to read to escape the issues of the real world and they have the best worlds to escape into 🙂
History romance and fantasy
What do you like about these genres?
Young Adult Urban Fantasy! ? Why…?? I think it’s because it sweeps me away into the story more affectively than any other genre.
That’s awesome!

YA Realistic fiction because it shows how teens deal with real problems.
I tend to go for true crime, true hauntings, some young adult. Or anything with a title that draws me in.
Historical fiction with strong women characters. I like to see how women overcome challenges, yet I also enjoy the possibilities with fiction.
