Everything, and it was all awesome. I didn’t even know he was S. King’s son when I read the first few books. It wasn’t until Sleeping Beauties that I found out!
@Mert Exactly! I was reading an article about the book, with Owen and Stephen King, and the interviewer mentioned the success of his other son, Joe Hill, as an author and I was all, Shut the front door! It amazed me.
The beginning of HEART SHAPED BOX really freaked me out. It took me a couple of tries before I got through it. No idea why it did since his other books were just as creepy. He’s very talented.
@Kim NOS4A2 was the first of his I read (not sure if I knew his parentage or not when I started it) and it was VERY reminiscent of early King to me. I really enjoyed it. Heart Shaped Box I enjoyed and Fireman was a bit of a Stand ripoff I felt, with less of a message, but a lot of people love it.
@Karla Owen King and Joe Hill are both his sons and Tabitha King is his wife and she writes also. Owen’s wife also writes. And King has a daughter who is a minister. That was shocking to me.
He’s one of my favorite authors; Heart Shaped Box makes my Top Ten List, and I generally don’t read horror genre. He’s one of the few authors whose books I insist on running out to B&N for the day it releases. ❤️
Have had (but not read) Heart Shaped Box on my Nook forever. Read NOS4A2 and was mostly just annoyed by it. Didn’t like Vic. I was looking for something truly scary when I read it and didn’t enjoy it as it was just creepy, not scary at all
@Krista, I’ve been looking for a book just as you described and I just purchased it on Audible. I’m so excited to get started but I must be a huge weirdo, as I live in a 100 year old house and I’m alone 85% of the time. I hope I can finish it. Thank you for the recommendation ??
He was just in my town and I helped out with his book signings. Really nice and funny person. I did buy three of his books, all came highly recommended, especially The Fireman, but haven’t had a chance to read any of them yet.
I just bought his book because it was on sale. Hopefully he’s good
@Christi if you remember, let me know what you think.
@Christi -which book?
@Kimberly
@Christi – that one is my fave of his, still gives me nightmares ?
@Kimberly in excited to read it. I’m finishing baby teeth right. Can’t wait though
i had no idea that was Stephen King’s son!!!
i read horns and enjoyed it
I’ve enjoyed his books.
I read sleeping beauties, it’s co written by him and his father. It was really good!
@Jill I had to abandon that one.
@Jill that’s Owen King not Joe Hill.
@Jill Owen isn’t really my style. He doesn’t write the same genre as his dad and Joe.
@Jill but I saw Owen and Stephen King on tour for that book and they were amazing together. The book wasn’t bad just prefer his other stuff more.
Yes, I’ve read Heart Shaped Box, Horns, and Nos4a2. All really good.
Everything, and it was all awesome. I didn’t even know he was S. King’s son when I read the first few books. It wasn’t until Sleeping Beauties that I found out!
@Aurora Sleeping Beauties is Owen King, the other son. Some family huh.
@Mert Exactly! I was reading an article about the book, with Owen and Stephen King, and the interviewer mentioned the success of his other son, Joe Hill, as an author and I was all, Shut the front door! It amazed me.
I love all of his books.
I read Nos4a2 and enjoyed it.
Absolutely love him. The Fireman is perfection. Heart-Shaped Box is amazingly disturbing. He is 100% his father’s son.
The beginning of HEART SHAPED BOX really freaked me out. It took me a couple of tries before I got through it. No idea why it did since his other books were just as creepy. He’s very talented.
I just finished NOS4A2 written by Joe Hill. It was pretty weird more like Stephen Kings early books. I didn’t like this one and it was 900+ pages.
Love his work!
I’ve enjoyed his books.
I have one of his books on my library hold list.
Fireman! Love Joe Hill!
Thanks everyone. I think I’ll check him out. I love his dad’s older stuff.
@Katie Exactly re early King.
I read one and it was meh.
I read Black Box and loved it
Horns was good. Heart Shaped Box warped me.
I really enjoyed NOS4A2. Reading heart shaped box next.
AMC is making a TV series on NOS4A2. Starts April 30. I’m excited to see it!
NOS4R2 was terrific. I got borednof The Fireman.
I tried reading one but wasn’t sucked in. Maybe just not the right mood.
I loved Heart Shaped Box.
Didn’t know he had a son who also was an author!
@Karla Owen King and Joe Hill are both his sons and Tabitha King is his wife and she writes also. Owen’s wife also writes. And King has a daughter who is a minister. That was shocking to me.
I love his books… they remind me of early King.
Horns and Heart Shaped Box. Both good. Messed up. But good.
@Lori – yet another reason you are my person!
He’s one of my favorite authors; Heart Shaped Box makes my Top Ten List, and I generally don’t read horror genre. He’s one of the few authors whose books I insist on running out to B&N for the day it releases. ❤️
NOS4A2U. One of the best books I have ever read!
I have a couple of his, but haven’t read them yet. Kindle edition of NOS4A2U is on sale on Amazon right now for $2.99
Heart Shaped Box was good.
I haven’t but My Husband just finished and recommends Horns.
My son is whipping through his books, and he has read Stephen King, too.
I enjoy his Locke and Key comics
Heart-Shaped Box is a favorite of mine.
Have had (but not read) Heart Shaped Box on my Nook forever. Read NOS4A2 and was mostly just annoyed by it. Didn’t like Vic. I was looking for something truly scary when I read it and didn’t enjoy it as it was just creepy, not scary at all
@Erina read heart shaped box for the scares. In my opinion.
@Erin I definitely will
I read Heart Shaped Box years ago and it gave me a good scare!
@Riann I had to stop halfway through!
I read Nos4atu – looking forward to the tv series!!
@Leslie I just hope they don’t screw it up!
Agreed! Most of it was filmed in my hometown, and I was lucky enough to watch them shoot a few scenes, so I’m really excited to watch.
Heart shaped box
Yes, he’s great.
Really liked NOS4A2!
The Fireman was good!
Nos4atu ( think this is right) was good also strange weather
I had no idea Joe was his son. I started the audiobook NOS4ATU but it creeped me out so much I didn’t finish.
Everything but his short stories and the comic book series. I’m getting to them though because I positively love him!!
@Tamara Locke and Key is AMAZING and I don’t even like comics. I heard there is a show in the works too.
Good to know! I’m in.
I thought The Fireman was good
Horns!
I’m lazy and not reading all the comments. I read “sleeping beauties” which is him and his son Owen (right?)?
Yep, that’s Owen.
@Kimberly I liked it.
@Sandie – I thought the first half was slow, but I loved the second half.
I liked Nos4a2. Want to read a couple others.
@Whitney I read that too and loved it!! It’s becoming a movie.
I enjoyed Horns… the book was better than the movie…
I loved the Fireman. I started Locke and Key on Audible, but I’m not sure the dramatization is for me. Has anyone read Locke and Key?
I read the series and loved it. I’d be unsure of a dramatization of a graphic novel too. Give it a try!
I really enjoyed all his books. Especially the fireman because it’s like an home to the stand, which I also love!
35 more school days?
He is a great writer love his books
Yes ? loved him
The Heart-shaped Box was hands down one of the scariest books I’ve ever read.
@Krista, I’ve been looking for a book just as you described and I just purchased it on Audible. I’m so excited to get started but I must be a huge weirdo, as I live in a 100 year old house and I’m alone 85% of the time. I hope I can finish it. Thank you for the recommendation ??
@Donna I was afraid to read it home alone…good luck I did really enjoy it!
@Krista, thank you. I’m going to start during daylight hours tomorrow. ?
@Krista the audible version is so scary!
Everything, love!
Yes!!
I loved “The Fireman”
Yes, he’s a wonderful writer.
I love him but I didn’t know about their connection.
He was just in my town and I helped out with his book signings. Really nice and funny person. I did buy three of his books, all came highly recommended, especially The Fireman, but haven’t had a chance to read any of them yet.
