I read the first 10 or so, I love them but then they get really boring! I retry every now and then but always end up at roughly the same place before giving up!
It’s pretty good. Had a great ending. It’s long though and like other long series I’ve read it can get a little dull in the middle. But worth the read.
The sword of truth series was my first major fantasy series read. It has become a target for many to pick on because he does tend to beat a dead horse (some of the themes sort of repeat) but it is a good series. The first book is one of the best fantasy books out there. If I had had a girl I would have named her Kahlan. As it is my second Son Chase is named after the border guard. We love to tell him about this literary namesake and how bad ass he was. The series gets a little old…. he doesn’t know when to quit. But again, the first few books and Faith of the Fallen (the one in the old world) are my favorites
Found the first book, Sword of Truth, on a book rack at a 7-Eleven in California. Had never heard of the series when I picked it up…but I loved it. I went on to read them all. (Mother Confessor I listened to on Audio while driving OTR Truck). I have even run a couple of D&D games based in the world of the books. Terry Goodkind is not my favorite author (that’s Raymond E. Feist) but he’s definitely up there
Read 7 of them. Really good books but it has recurring theme that retold a different way in each book. If you don’t mind that then I would suggest giving it a try.
Wow! This page is a lot different than a similar page on here that just tears goodkind apart. This is one of my favorite series and look forward to his two upcoming books!
It was awful. The first book was not bad, but each book after that is worse & worse. It is a lot of the same things happening repetitively & most of the later stories are thinly veiled rip offs of characters & events from other more popular fantasy novels.
The series was too long. Terry good kind felt the need to keep reminding you of things from previous books all the way through the last. Incredibly annoying.
Yeah, I agree. The last few books were hard to get through. His writing changed significantly after confessor. Not sure why. I enjoy them still but not the same way I used to. I feel I have to continue though because I really do enjoy the characters
I powered through simply because I wanted to know how it ends. I’d been reading the series since I was a child. Used to buy each book on release day haha.
@Roger I’ve been told repeatedly that if you can get past the half way part of Wheel book 1, you won’t put it down, but I’ve never ever made it that far, always lose interest and move on to something else…read every single Sword of Truth novel though, twice
It’s not bad and has good parts. The writing is crap and gets insanely repetitive half way through. A lot of the plots are a complete ripoff of other books, especially WOT but some may argue that most books are. I would say SOT is pretty bad about it though. There were parts that I enjoyed, but it’s not my favorite. One read through would be worth it I guess.
I was unable to finish the series. I went as far as buying them all in hardback, because I loved the earlier ones so much, but after the auther had some personal problems and ended up changing editors…that was it, it just went downhill from there for me. I ended up selling all the books after ‘Confessor’. The repetative pseudo psychology that he preaches over and over and over and over and over again? was doing my head in.
Its like dragonball z where some big bad guy shows up, nobody can beat him, then at the end the main guy Richard just figures out some new gimmick to save the day. And also its preachy af. Fun fact, there’s a tv show based on it, legend of the seeker, it was ok.
Read maybe the first 4 or 5 books but then it got boring and was going on to long.
Agree with @Troy
I read them all but I agree.
Not the most popular opinion, but I got about 100 pages in and gave up because I felt like it read like bad D&D…

I read some of them but stopped got tired of it and found some thing better

Read every one as it came out and I loved them.
Is the first one Wizards First Rule?
Yes
Yes

I listened to book one as Audiobook, really liked the narrator. Got book 2 on my wishlist, but I’m not in a rush for it.

Very good series , can be a little repetitive but it’s worth it in my opinion .

I really like this series and Faith of The Fallen is one of my all time favorite fantasy books.

The last book made me cringe hard. HARD.

Deaths mistress?
Warheart

Yeah I still do. The constant repeating kills me, but something keeps drawing me back in. It was my first fantasy series so maybe nostalgia.
Then again, I’m the odd man out and just can’t get through the wheel of time series. Tried five times and made it to book nine.
Haha that’s another hard one. I enjoyed that though.

I could only make it to the 5th book before I had to give it up. The first few are good though.

But read up to Confessor for sure?
I couldn’t finish the first book, the moral of this story is don’t bother with the series.
