Read them all except the one that came out most recently. I have kind of a love hate relationship with these books. I enjoyed reading most of them dispite the fact that at times the books get boged down with some really annoying propaganda.

Why the love hate? Just curious, I’m on book 3 now so wanna know why.

In some of the later books, Naked Empire and Faith Of the Fallen come to mind, it starts to feel a bit like the author is trying to ram his political vewpoint down the readers throat. I don’t mind if there is a bit of this but To me it felt forced and it interfered with my immersion in the story. I Still love the books. I just didn’t like the feeling of being preached at. The books are still totaly awesome and as soon as i can aford it ill be reading the newest one.

Got ya. Thanks. Good to know.

I read them all up until the last book or two. They were not out at the time and I like to reread all the books again before reading the new one, but there was a ton of books.

No. Read the first couple but it’s repetitive and I stopped around book 4 or 5

Only up until Confessor.
He changed editors after that and his writing style just became a bunch of pseudo phycology/philosophy which he just repeats over and over and over and over and over….

Very long and drawn out. Wasn’t as good to me as what people boasted. I stopped after book 2

I don’t really remember that part must have been brief

@Robert… The quad of blond muscle bound guys that were chasing them across the divide and into Midland, from memory.
Been a loooong time though since I’ve read bk1.

Anthony

Midland makes me think of Berserk, love that Berserk

1
Robert

I kinda remember that. I read them back in ’10-’11

@Anthony
I love the manga, not the anime so much and definitely not the newer anime that came out not that long ago….turned that crap off, it was terrible.

Davfyd

I read that in the 90’s?
Oh wait…that means I’m old?

I had these on my list and then donated them once I learned what a douche he is. I got into the first one a little bit and it was good in its own way. As typical cliche fantasy.

I haven’t heard about the doucheness. Arrogant or something?

Robert

Who? The author or the main character. If someone writes a good story… He/she can be as douchey as they want. As long as it’s within the law… But I probably would still read their books anyway. If they are good.

Robert

He is a douchey guy lol. I just found a reddit about it… I don’t care though

@Robert yes the author. Such an arrogant prick. Who “doesn’t write fantasy” yeah ok terry

0
Matt

@Aaron easier of you just google some terry good kind quotes. It’s pretty easy to get the picture after a couple. He is arrogant and he isn’t anywhere near talented enough to be such a prick

Robert

Eh his books are pretty good. He is human like everyone else. Only he has written a long ass story that is pretty good. Is he the best author I’ve read. No. But this series is in my top ten. I don’t care if he’s a bit crazy.

Just read Ayn Rand and you’ll get all the philosophical ideas he used from the source

Im on book 3 now. I enjoy them. Very long, but not necessarily difficult to get through. The depth of character descriptions and emotions are pretty great. At times it can be a little drawn out so far. I would recommend reading them tho.

I choked down the first book and never finished the rest of the series. The book was predictable to the point that I would skip an entire scene just to see the end conclusion to see if I was right (I always was). Was filled with too much fluff and bad guys that were evil just for the hell of it without any explanation as to what made them evil and what drove their malicious goals. Essentially, they were born as villians instead of made into villians. Couldn’t stand it.
