Yes, I have. I read it in 1976, a great book for me as a young boy. Again and again till I dreamed of being the Count. Hoping it may come true someday. Same year I read the Papillon.
I love the story and enjoy the movie, I tried very hard to read the book. Made it about halfway through and then gave up. Someone told me that some translations are easier to read than others, so I may try again at some point with a different version.
I am reading it right now. This is my first time reading The Count of Monte Cristo. I am only at chapter 6 so I can’t give a review, but first impressions are that it is a good book. It is very readable (I have the Robin Buss translation) and the chapters are short so the plot seems to move quickly.
♥️♥️ First read it in the late 40’s..as a pre teenager.. reread it immediately.. and often since..have gifted it often.. never, ever an abridged version..
Just be absolutely certain that you are reading a non abridgement. I read it and the book SAID “unabridged” but it was totally abridged and wow, so much didn’t make sense! The actual version is a giant book.
There are many “appropriate” copies – this one is a Robin Buss translation, here is the cover and the last page of the table of contents showing the proper number of chapters
Yes, it’s really good if you like classic literature (which I do lol)
Read it as a kid and loved the movie. ??
I own the ebook now but I’d rather have a physical copy
I read all my books on kindle 🙂
Not me! But I honestly well take what gets to me faster if I’m passionate about reading a new book. Waitlisted? Bam check overdrive.
Read it in college. Fell in love with both the book and Dumas. Then read The Three Musketeers. Dumas used to b my absolute favourite back then.
One of my all-time favorites. Be sure to watch “The Shawshank Redemption” after you read it.
Yes, it’s great but very long. I think if I didn’t already know the overall story from the movie, I would’ve gotten overwhelmed.
One of the best adventures stories ever. Read it at least six times
I’m reading it right now
