@Sara I haven’t started it yet….. I have been busy with the hoildays And sadly haven’t had much time to read. But the book has good reviews so thats a plus.
I read it when it first came out years ago and remember loving it. It’s one of the ones I have earmarked for my kid to read when she’s a little older/at a higher reading level.
@Sara yes!!! There was a ton of hype. That’s actually why I picked it up lol! I’m not typically a reader of the fantasy genre. This one was really good though.
Me personally no but my fiancee did and he has been begging me to read them for the past 3 years , I’ll eventually break down and do it lol but I’m reading so many series right now
@Sara red queen is meh the main character has me yelling at her most of the time and shadow of the fox is pretty darn good I’m a sucker for Japanese mythology and julie kagawa is my favorite author so it’s a double whammy for that one
I read Eragon last month and tried to read Eldest after. I hated it. And I’m a huge fan of YA fantasy. I forced myself to finish Eragon and tried Eldest because people said it was better. Stopped half way through, I just couldn’t do it
I read Eragon in high school. It was written by a high schooler, and you can tell. He tries far too hard to add detail, and much of it feels unnecessary.
He’s talented, certainly, but the book felt tedious. I only got about halfway through the second book before thinking “what is even going on?”
This is all from memory of ten years ago, but I do recall an abundance of needless details.
I have never understood how certain books become ” best sellers”, “award winning”, ” highly acclaimed” and so on immediately after release” without the real critics input like the readers. Aren’t the readers involved as to whether a book is great or not?
Not a fan of the books nor the author. Read it, said it sounded like it was self published by a cocky homeschooler. Then watched an interview and found out I was dead on. Maybe if he’d sat on it a few years and edited it with more maturity I might have enjoyed it. There was quite a bit of copied scenes from other books as well. Which made his claim of being “better than Tolkien” pretty sloppy.
Eragon is a fantastic book!! The others in the series are good as well!! I recommend it. ?? It’s even more impressive when you realize it was written by an 18 year old. ? ? ?
I did a long while ago but I wasn’t fond of his writing style
@Sean I started it, I’m not to far into it
It picks up about halfway through. Eldest is even better though.
I can’t wait
I asked this a few days ago and a lot of people said it is good
@Alesha I didn’t see it, you reading it too??
@Sara I haven’t started it yet….. I have been busy with the hoildays And sadly haven’t had much time to read. But the book has good reviews so thats a plus.
I own the first 3 of the series, my favorite books.
@Joelle how many are in the series
4, eragon, brisingr, eldest, and inheritance
@Joelle I’ll have to find the last one
Yeah it’s the only one I don’t have and haven’t read yet lol
Lol
I read it when it first came out years ago and remember loving it. It’s one of the ones I have earmarked for my kid to read when she’s a little older/at a higher reading level.
@Jocelyn I remember it being the hype when it came out

This is my first one I’m reading that fantasy
It has been a long time since I have read it but I liked it
@Diana I like it so far
Me personally no but my fiancee did and he has been begging me to read them for the past 3 years , I’ll eventually break down and do it lol but I’m reading so many series right now
@Paiton what series u reading
@Sara currently I’m on book 2 of the red queen series and book 1 of shadow of the fox
How are those
@Sara red queen is meh the main character has me yelling at her most of the time and shadow of the fox is pretty darn good I’m a sucker for Japanese mythology and julie kagawa is my favorite author so it’s a double whammy for that one
Hmm I’ll have to check them out
I did. Didn’t keep my attention.
@Amanda I’m not to far into it
@Sara a lot of people enjoyed it. I’m sure I’m in the minority.
Excellent book and series. Read them as they came out. Some of my favourite fantasy books.
Been a while but I didn’t read the first 3 and part of 4.
Never finished 4. Been meaning to.
I have read it and the rest of the series. I enjoyed it.
Yes. Read it as a kid loved it. Wished they did a better job with the movie
Yup a long time ago
I read Eragon last month and tried to read Eldest after. I hated it. And I’m a huge fan of YA fantasy. I forced myself to finish Eragon and tried Eldest because people said it was better. Stopped half way through, I just couldn’t do it
I loved the whole series x
Really good!
I have and liked it. Need to finish the series
Yes. I read them all. Not a fan unfortunately.
yes..can’t finish.. too long..
I tried. I just couldn’t. I think the writer’s parents pushed to have him published young, but imho, he wasn’t ready.
@Patricia So many references.
this. It wasn’t ready. A lot of pretty blatant copying from other sources.
@Tamarae Indeedeo

The audio book is better. I couldn’t get through the book without my eyes crossing.

I looooooove Eragon!
I love that entire series
My favorite series!!
Yes !!! Amazing book, love it
On my tbr
I have the whole series, and loved it.
I really enjoyed it!

I actually read first book this year. It was ok
My second favorite series of all time!! It’s amazing!
Yes, saw the movie too.
Yes, the whole series is fabulous.
Books are amazing. The movie. …awful
I remember loving the series as a kid, don’t know how it stands as an adult but I bet it would still be good
Yes
I listened to it on audio a few months back and loved it.
I just reread the 1st 3 books and finished the last one last night. I loved it!
Eragon is a fantastic book!! The others in the series are good as well!! I recommend it. ??

Loved the book, hated the movie
Yeah, only two things good about the movie — Sapphira and Jeremy Irons.
The casting was good. The editing of the story for the movie was horrible.
Brilliant considering his age when he wrote it. Some fabulous ideas and concepts.
I loved the books, but won’t even watch the movie
@Daphne the movie was big disappointment which is too bad. The casting was good.
That is very true
I have the series. First book really good then downhill after. Still can’t bring myself to finish as I lost interest??♀️
Wow that would be awesome.
I’ve tried reading it once, but it was too long and drawn out, that it lost my interest.
Very good series, the movie does them no justice.
My Kindle is called Arya because of them! That’s how much I loved them!
