I thought it was well-written and I was taken by Turtle’s strength and fortitude. Even though she internalized her father’s abusive words, she fought for what she needed. It was a harrowing read, but worth it, as you said.
I read it, very tough book to read, but I loved the main character and wanted to find out what happened to her. Her father is one of the worst characters I have ever read about in a book
Overall I really liked it. I gave it 4 stars. It has some problems though, at times I did struggle with the believability of Turtle as a teenage girl and felt as a male author Talent wasn’t quite able to portray those subtle differences that would make Turtle more believable. But Turtle was believable enough that I couldn’t put the book down and I kept reading so it was a minor thing. Definite Trigger Warning regarding child abuse ( physical, sexual and emotional)
I also had to suspend my disbelief at times for the same reason. But all in all thought Turtle was a very strong girl. I wonder what a woman writer would have done with this topic/character.
It was definitely hard to read at times due to subject matter. But, Turtle was one tough cookie. I find myself wondering how she turned out. What happened with the rest of her life.
Yes i read it recently. I found it very interesting. The topic is confronting but the story is worth it

I thought it was ok, just ok.

I tapped out. Just could not have the storyline in my head. Have a big tbr pile and this did not make the cut for me.
It was a disturbing story to read.
not a pleasant read, did not finish, too graphic

One of the best in many years. Brutal but magnificent.
I thought his writing style was beautiful.
It was really really good. I recommend it. It definitely deals with disturbing themes but it’s an excellent read.
After reading the comments I realize you already have! My only real complaint in the book was the ending.
