Soooo long ago. Now I want to read it again. I barely remember anything about it. A mouse? An intellectually challenged boy? I’m going to go look at reviews to remember now ?
Not only have I read it, I observed a whole unit on it being taught to 8th graders during my student teaching. They included a research project on Dr. Oliver Sacks and his work from the book “Awakenings.” They then compared it to the movie to see what was the same/different. It was all about the ethics of caring for those with differences, and building compassion. It was a really cool unit to see.
Read it in 6th grade. Loved it. Had daughters read it years later. It currently is on the “Very favorite Books” shelve at one daughter’s home. A special book.
When my dad had a severe brain injury he lived 4 years. He went through so much therapy and did recover more than expected, but he knew he wasn’t OK, and after a couple of years he began losing his abilities. The worst part was that he would realize that he was slipping away and become angry and frightened. It reminded me of this book. It was heartbreaking.
He had told me years before that he did not want to die like that. His dad had a long slow death. I understood his unhappiness and yet there was nothing I could do to help.
Disagree…loved the movie. Very moving. Saw it with my intermediate school class and was a real lesson in empathy. Cliff and Claire were excellent! Would highly recommend in addition to reading Flowers.
I thought the movie moved to far away from the book. I would love for a serious adaption of the book to be done for film or tv instead of the more psychedelic one that exists.
Yeeeeeeaaaaarrrrrs ago. I remember it though. Very sad.
A very long time ago in school. Made an impression on me, remembered it all these years.
Read it in high school, reread it when teaching. Highly recommend it.
Yes! So sad but so good!
Tears, many tears. Love your last name.
Yes, long ago. Still sticks in my mind.
Read for school

Once upon eons ago when I was in high school. Read it because I’d seen the movie Charley, which I liked better than the book.
Read it in 6th grade. Loved it. Had daughters read it years later. It currently is on the “Very favorite Books” shelve at one daughter’s home. A special book.

Im so sorry
He had told me years before that he did not want to die like that. His dad had a long slow death. I understood his unhappiness and yet there was nothing I could do to help.

I required it in a graduate ed. psych class for years
We had to read it in high school English. So, no.
oh yes. Author Daniel Keys was a professor at Ohio University, after I had graduated, however.
It was a very important book to me, recommended by my mother. She had some very positive interaction with Daniel Keys, as I recall.
I read it in school
Yes in high school.
Great book!
One of the most beautifully written books I have ever read…. Just don’t see the movie version.
Disagree…loved the movie. Very moving. Saw it with my intermediate school class and was a real lesson in empathy. Cliff and Claire were excellent! Would highly recommend in addition to reading Flowers.

Required middle school read.
Sure, I re-read it every few years and add it to as many library displays as possible ?
Of course! As a kid and as an adult. Discussed it with my then teenaged son when he read it. Incredible book.
Loved it!
Yes. Such a beautifully sad book.
My thoughts exactly
This is one of the books I’m wondering how my perspective would change from reading this as a teenager and reading it as an adult.
Read it a long time ago – good idea about reading it again. Let us know what you think!
I read it many years ago. I just recently bought a copy to re-read. It’s an amazing book.
I read it in school but I would love to re read it
