Loved that book. She’s a brave woman for writing it.
It was so good.! Could not put it down. Still amazed by what she accomplished.
Me too. That is the best book I’ve read this year.
It’s pretty shocking. Those poor children!
I’m on chapter 8!
Loved it. Great read.
On my tbr!
I attended a talk she gave about the book at the Library of Congress Book Festival earlier this month. I didn’t know much about the book other than it was a hot best seller, but was interested in what she had to say. Westover said Obama had called her to tell her how moving he found it. So, on top of her other accomplishments, she said it was like an out of body experience talking to him! She said she wrote the entire book before she was sure she was going to show it to anyone, much less try to get it published, as a cathartic exercise in dealing with her family. She seemed to indicate that it was the book itself that severed bonds, but that’s not the way I read the story. She was very clear that she was not trying to denigrate Mormonism, just her family’s interpretations the religion.
I’ve heard of it but I didn’t know anything about it. I’ll try it.
Loved Hillbilly Elligy too!
What an amazing story!
I loved reading it.
Best book this year.
Our book club selection for next month.
Still on my nightstand in the “to be read” pile
Same. I’m going to read Baby Teeth next then this one!
Baby teeth was good yet chilling.
I couldn’t stop thinking about it while reading it and immediately after. I’m going to recommend it for my book club since I need to discuss it!
Yessssss.. Loved that book. So sad but so real
One of the best i’ve read this year. One of the top memoirs to come out for sure
Reading Educated now just started.
@Rosemary enjoy. It’s sad but so well done
I thought it was good but liked Glass Castle better.
I really liked Glass Castle. Did you read other book, Half Broke Horses? That was good as well. I think it was based on her books grandmother’s life.
Loved it, but had to put it down a lot to absorb what was happening. Difficult subject, but very glad I read it.
So good. I live in Idaho.
Yes it’s really good!
In my stack!
It was recommended to our bookclub for next year. I voted for it.
Just started listening!
I couldn’t stop reading.
I just finished it. Couldn’t put it down. Read straight through in two days. Very interesting, amazing story of resilience and PTSD.
Yes. Just when you think it can’t get better it does!! Every page is more inspiring than the page before.
I loved it
