Yeah, it’s the cover that gives me the final determination. But I read the blurb in the front of the book, and maybe the first few paragraphs as well. So even if I like the cover, the title, and the blurb, if the writing isn’t good, I won’t get the book.
I still I’ve Where the Wild Things Are, Dr. Seuss, Ronald Dahl. Reading knows no limits. People who try to set those limits are just too rigid. I taught for about 29 years. I had to work hard to keep the bet readers from displaying an elitist to kids who were doing their very best, no matter what the level.
I find it depends for me. Often it’s title, but when they’re displayed so I can see covers I sometimes get drawn to those first. Regardless, I have a tendency to read the back before I make my decision.
I actually generally don’t read into the book itself, but I’ve found my system works well enough for me.
Yes. For my recently finished novel, the editor got me to change the title as she was of the opinion that the readers are tempted to pick up the book if the title is appealing.
Totally
Can i ask u something ?
Sure
What do you think about this title “We can get back” ?
Do U think it lures readers ?
Yes and I love when I get to the point where the title of the book and the story all come together.
what do you think about the this title “We Can Get Back” ?
That doesn’t draw me. But it’s a matter of taste.
@Katia Maybe just ‘Get Back’??
Okay ..
i’m writing a book and i really want to give it an awesome title since its my first book
Focus on writing the book. The title will come to you.
i am focusing on writing 🙂
but i really can’t resist to give it a title *-*
So give it a temp title and see how it goes.
Oh .. good suggestion
thank you
The title and cover makes the first impression
indeed it does
i feel like i’m not obeying the proverb “Don’t judge a book by its cover” :/ !
I agree. As well as the description on the cover, the reviews (if any), and along with tiny details that are on the cover.
But in the end it’s the story that stays with you
Yes!
yup
I will read a book based on its title and cover alone. I literally judge a book by its cover lol
I’m usually lured by the cover, though they say don’t judge a book by it’s cover
I know that too, but I’m also a sucker for a gorgeous cover.
Josie~~Sometimes.
Nope. It’s all about cover with me?
For sure!
I need a synopsis!
The cover then the title. I know I shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover.

Yes as well as the cover, I know you’re not supposed to judge a book by its cover but I can’t help it
Me too xD
Very much so
Yes.
Yep.
The title makes the first impression.
I try not to care about the cover though.
Of course, the title and often the cover of the book ? I admit it ?
Yeap, I’ve dozens of tbr books cause of this…
so do cover colours
mine is blues and greens
Yes
Sometimes the title lures me but mostly the cover does. I like unique, plain or something I’m drawn to that’s unique.
I think Ray Bradburys’ Something Wicked This Way Comes is one of the best titles ever, and a good book.
Yes
Sometimes!
Yes it does! And the picture on the cover too.
Yes !!!
Sometimes
Sometimes, also sometimes it’s the cover or blurb.

Yes, some books have crappy titles, but the book is good, I am just very disappointed about the title.
Yes, sometimes.
Years ago i bought the book Welcome to the World, Baby Girl by Fannie Flagg, Because i really like the cover, end up being one of my favorite books!!!
I was looking for an audiobook and this is one of the first one I bought, love it still.

Sometimes , then I read what it is about.
Sometimes. For example, it’s certainly part of what got me into reading Kim Harrison’s HOLLOWS series.
Yes
some times
Title and or cover is what will always draw a person toward the book first, or of course the name of the actual author.
The title and the book jacket! ??
Yes
Yes. For my recently finished novel, the editor got me to change the title as she was of the opinion that the readers are tempted to pick up the book if the title is appealing.
Not always x
Sometimes
I go by the preface!?
It’s half the title, half the cover picture for me.
It does sometimes
the cover is a must!
The cover prompts me to read the inside cover or back cover to see if I think I want to read it.
