Does anyone else get tired of reading a book in the middle of it and want to start a new book? Or is that just me?

Not very often but currently reading once upon a dream … it’s a bit slow and I think I might swap for a different book and come back later
Happens to me too more than once, when it’s the case, I simple switch, and when I finish the new one I started, there is a 90 percent chance, I finish the other one, I was reading in the first place.or I start a new one
Your not alone
Happens to me too which is why I usually have multiple books going at the same time.
Happens all the time..
no happens often ..like yesterday I had 100 pages left but a book I waited a whole year for came out yesterday so the other one has to wait 😀 😀
Yep
Atm?. I wanna read a different book but i dont wanna stop. Its literally a hyped book??. Almost half way of it though so im kinda happy about that.
Depends if it’s good or boring have quit a few
All the time. I have multiple books on kindle and paper books.. And going to look for one today for a present
Yep all the time that’s why I’m constantly reading two or more books at once
Ummm yes
I just did that with a book — The Great Reckoning.
Depends on the book
It sometimes happens to me but I usually push on and complete the book.
Lol that’s why I read multiple books at once!
Me
Yep. If I’m bored I’ll quit?
I read 5-7 books at a time. This way I can switch to whatever genre or story I am craving. Ultimately, I think I finish more books this way.
I have no idea how you do that, I just can’t … ???
I find it tends to rather either or with this. Some people thrive on it and it makes other people crazy. I don’t have a problem keeping them all straight.
I could do it, I would just have to make notes of each book … ???
I’m a total quitter!???
Only if they start drawing out too much explaining, and don’t just continue with the storyline
Not just you !!! I just want to finish the one I’m reading so I can go to the next adventure in the next book !!!
I do and I feel obligated to finish it… it is one of my book quirks for sure..
Most of the times !
Worse.. I get within 60-70 pages of the end and start worrying about what my next book is going to be. Often screws up the end of the book I’m currently reading.
Happens to me too.
Think it depends how much your enjoying the story tbh ?
Usually only if I’m re reading a long series.
It’s not that I’m not enjoying the book it’s just that I am bored with what I’m reading at the time and I will read another book take a little break and I can finish the series happily.
It has happened a few times and it’s an unpleasant feeling. Different than when you’re angry with a character or unhappy with a plot twist. It’s a gradual waning of your interest in the story until you don’t care what happens anymore. At this point I usually put the book back on the shelf and pick up another.
Sometimes I feel like I can’t finish the book fast enough to get to the next
Yes! I’m such a slow reader.
It doesn’t help when your tbr pile keeps growing ?
I know.. if anything it overwhelms me and I stop reading for awhile sometimes
Oh no…..the struggle is real #bookloverproblems
Only when I’m not really enjoying the book. I know a lot of people who like to read more than one book at a time though.
That is me
I’m having that issue at the moment it slows my reading down too ?
sometimes
Yes
Yeah, I just stopped a book at page 10, because I couldn’t do it.
Actually happening now. But it’s only when the book is not grabbing me.
I was like that with the host! But I kept on slowly and it turned out to be a great book! I’m proud of myself for finishing such a big book.
You’re not enthusiastic with the one you’re reading for me I stop reading o& get on another book
I have done that. I hate quitting but then I remember life is too short to struggle through a book…and that helps me to throw the boring book across the room (not literally) and go find one that is calling my name
Me
I do that more than I care to admit. Got a three way split happening now!
No, I do that all the time, but I just suck it up and think it will get better so I read on.
All.the.time. lol then my problem is this ….
Well that’s the reason I’ve left reading “Paper town” and started Harry Potter again ? (well I’m reading it umpteenth time) …
Sometimes I stop reading a book, put on the shelf, and start reading another. But I’m usually reading 3 or more books at the same time.
Yes but I do one book at a time for now to ensure I finish books.
I finish most that I read, even when I have started 3 or 4. I got used to reading like that in high school and college.
Sometime I get a hold of a book I’m just not feeling but when I’ve come halfway I have to finish it. Except for Outlander that’s the only book I couldn’t finish.
Only if I’m really not enjoying the book! That doesn’t happen very often though!
I don’t get tired, I get anxious because I want to read another one. But I always finish what I started.
Yeah I do that. Then I go back and finish it later on
Hence, reading two (or more) books at the same time.
Sounds like your reading the wrong books for your brain, they’re like clothes, sometimes they look nice and its fashionable, but they just dont fit or suit you.
Me for sure! And then u juggle whether to persist or give it up.
I’m doing that right now! ? I’m actually in a “rut” and I need something too read, any suggestions?
what kind of books do you like?
I like Nora Roberts a lot. Or anything Syfy, or romance. I have a ton of books but I just can’t pick one! Lol
@Alex well is there a certain book you are always looking at? IF I tell you to find me a book, what would you pick out, it doesn’t matter if you have read it before, the really good books need to be read more then once.
Oh yes that happens a lot! Like now, I’m reading a good book but I’m so excited to start my next book I just wanna leave this one but I won’t, I will finish it…
Yes, that’s been happening to me a lot lately
So many times! So i just start a new book ?
Yes I do
Some books are hard to get through, sometimes.
That’s when I start aggressively skimming.
Not recently, but I stick it out ans usually am glad I did
Yep. I usually have 2 or 3 going at a time.
Sometimes.
I’m using reading three at a time… to accommodate either my mood or a radio program review deadline!
Sometimes. Especially if I can’t stay interested in the book.
Sometimes I don’t even reach the middle. 😉
I always read many books at the same time!
Happens to me too but I try to resist the temptation. I don’t like having a lot of half-read Books lying around
Same
All the time! That is who I am always reading three to five books at one time!
Constantly. It’s why I’m usually reading a few books at a time.
I do that so often my New Year’s resolution is to cut down my books-in-progress pile to seven or less.
It’s the end of August and I’m nearly there.
(How’s YOUR resolutions coming?)
Some books have Ellyn complex plots sometimes they just lose me
I always give a book til page 50 or so. If I am still struggling to read it, it goes back to library
I’m going through that right now… ?
