I listen to my cds while playing on my tablet. But there are some books, such as “The Stand”, which is impossible to find on cd, that I want to listen to, so I just bought a Kindle paperwhite.
I am so grateful for the opportunity to listen to books while I’m commuting! I get to enjoy books I would never have the time to sit down and read. I find the performance of the narrator really makes the book come alive. Having a great narrator makes all the difference.
I can only listen to them as I can no longer read much. I can sometimes read a few articles in a magazine but never much more than that. So they’re my lifeline.
I would love to enjoy them but I always find something annoying about the voice. One time I tried one narrated by Jason Alexander and I kept thinking about episodes of seinfeld instead of the book.
I listened to Stephen Fry narrate the 1st Harry Potter and loved it but have never got into any since unfortunately. I think I can only do stories I already know for some reason. Might have to try again for the car
I have them for when I’m working. Housework or gardening. Really enjoy them but if I ever sit down to listen they put me to sleep and I miss half of it
I enjoy audiobooks too. It’s so nice to lose yourself in a story. In fact I still have available some free promo codes of my own audiobooks – if anyone is interested please DM me.
Yes – they’ve saved my life recently! Had baby number four and breastfeeding – just cannot manage a physical book so have been “plugged in” and really grateful for a good audio book.
I used audible for a long time before i discovered libby which is free. But I was spoiled by audible so I still use both. But I always check Libby first to see if whatever I want is free.
I love books on cds! Driving or working at home. I must say also that first reading a book and then listening to it are two very different experiences. I love both reading and listening to the book!
I’m not a big fan but I have listened to one before, only because the book was written by and about a guy in a band that I love and he also read the book for the audio version so I got to listen to him read me his book ??
This week was 1st time I ventured into an audio book. “Dirty John” I really enjoyed it. I cleaned my house while listening. I will try it again when I take a Road trip. Anyone have any suggestions on my next one to listen to?
Yes! I do! I’ve been a big fan of audiobooks through Audible. As a mother of a young child under 5 it’s really saved my sanity sometimes. I rarely have time to sit and read now, or when I do the kiddo suddenly needs me, of course. That’s parenthood. Having Audible/audiobooks has allowed me to enjoy books in the car during my drives and commute to work, and has helped me keep up with my favorite writers and series!
Out of curiosity…does anyone else get annoyed by certain readers? Their voices I mean. I just got done with Dead and Breakfast, local NW writer. I loved it but the voice was too whiny lol
@Shelley yes I always preview the audio books because some readers I just can’t listen to. I loved “the break” by Marian Keyes as a book but when I heard the voice on the audio I couldn’t listen to it. She hadn’t an annoying voice as such but she just sounded different to how the book sounded in my head ?
yes. I tried to listen to the author , Rebecca Serle, read her book The Dinner List. Nasally, inflections off and distracted from the story which might have been decent otherwise. The reader who did I Am Pilgrim was not that good either.
I listen to them all the time. Great way to read and clean house.

Yes! There are very few I couldn’t get into based on the persons voice
I love them, but a lot depends on the narratter
I love to listen to them while I cook.
I listen to my cds while playing on my tablet. But there are some books, such as “The Stand”, which is impossible to find on cd, that I want to listen to, so I just bought a Kindle paperwhite.

Great for long Texas drives.
Don’t get enough time on my own to listen to them. Managed one for the first time last week. Not sure if it’s something I like yet.
I like them a lot!!!!
Love them
Absolutely. I can enjoy my books while driving or cleaning or knitting or other situations where holding a book isn’t feasible!
I always have one that i listen to. I also always one book in my kindle that o read to. I love it.
@Necla me too!!!!
It depends on who’s reading them. Some are good. Some not so much.
I listened to Stephen Fry narrate the 1st Harry Potter and loved it but have never got into any since unfortunately. I think I can only do stories I already know for some reason. Might have to try again for the car
It took me a while to adjust to them but I adore them now. I get most of my reading done via audiobook these days because my life is so busy.
I listen to them all day at work. Love them.

I do…… wonderful for when I’m driving
I’m using them more and more. Listening to one right now while I knit ?
No. I can’t concentrate on a story I hear for so long. I’d just not follow and do something else
My companion in multitasking: Driving, folding laundry, cleaning kitchen, putting on makeup, etc. 🙂
Oddly, I enjoy reading fiction and listening to non-fiction.
I listen in bed . Great for sleepless nights
I have them for when I’m working. Housework or gardening. Really enjoy them but if I ever sit down to listen they put me to sleep and I miss half of it
@Susan and me xx
I listen in the car, at bedtime, when cooking and cleaning, doing my make up…

I read this quickly and thought you liked to crochet and drive while listening ? That would be some crazy multitasking!
I’m not a big fan but I have listened to one before, only because the book was written by and about a guy in a band that I love and he also read the book for the audio version so I got to listen to him read me his book ??
Never tried one yet. My g-ma loved them when she was older. Will have to try one. LOL

I have a hard time with them keeping my attention.
Great for long journeys.
I love them!!
Out of curiosity…does anyone else get annoyed by certain readers? Their voices I mean. I just got done with Dead and Breakfast, local NW writer. I loved it but the voice was too whiny lol
@Shelley YES!! So the audio for Harry Potter is awesome but then he narrated The Night Circus and it annoyed me!
@Shelley yes I do get annoyed by some readers voices so I always listen to the sample before I buy
yes. I tried to listen to the author , Rebecca Serle, read her book The Dinner List. Nasally, inflections off and distracted from the story which might have been decent otherwise. The reader who did I Am Pilgrim was not that good either.
Well thank you ladies. ❤️? I don’t feel so bad for being annoyed ?
I hated Pachinko because of the narrator. She sounded like she was reading to a group of 1st graders.
Yea! Voice plays a big role in my enjoyment of the book
Me also!!!!
My fav mode, especially when life is pressing in. Loved hem for years!
