Once a month a order children’s books. I love them. Of course I have an excuse because I do home childcare but I do think I buy them more for me then the kids.
My mother absolutely is one of those children books hoarders. Not only for her 3rd grade classes, her grandbabies, herself but for me, too!! I have some favorites out there!
I went to a children’s book store today to get something with an Australian theme for my nephew in Ireland (he is 6). The sales lady was mortified that i was not up to date with what was new in children’s books. She told me that as a mother it was my role to encourage my children to read. I promptly told her that i did not realise that it is compulsory to have children, that i must have missed that memo.. i asked her if it was adequate enough for me to be encouraging my nephew!
Yes, and I collect them! I reread lots of them, including Peter Pan and Wind in the Willows, Little Women, The Animal Family, The Secret Garden, Twig, The Lion’s Paw, and many more. I have also discovered some that I didn’t read as a child, but still love as an adult – The Bat Poet and Fantastic Mr. Fox are two!
My daughter will be 9 in April and she’s quite the bookworm. I try to read most of what she’s reading so we can talk about it… And a few more that I like just for me, but I justify by saying, “Oh I’m just previewing for my kids!” LOL
LOL! I have a whole library in my house of children’s books!!!!! Some were my mothers when she was a child and I still have some of mine…I’ve been collecting children’s books for over 20 years. I’m 52
Yes! I have bought several books that I had as a child and some new ones – I also love the illustrations.

I just ordered 2 a couple of nights ago. Charlotte’s Web and The Secret Garden. And yes, they are for me.

@Lisa, it was one of the first books I read way back in elementary school.
I cant remember not knowing it. I must have had it read to me. I feel like Mary, Dickon and Colin have been part of my life forever.
@Lisa, yes exactly. And also my other favorite was Charlotte’s Web. I feel like I was a personal friend to her and Wilbur and all the farm animals.
