Hello all,
I see alot of people here listen to audio books. I’ve never done this. I feel inspired. Can anyone recommend me a book to listen to?
Red rising, Tim Gerard Reynolds is perfect. Nick podel is a great narrator, along with Luke Daniels. Also, wil Wheaton narrates ready player one. Also, can’t forget Michael Kramer who does Mistborn. Kate reading and him do the storm light archives
@Jordan I second red rising – brilliant series with a fantastic narrator!
Anything free from the library. lol
Gentlemen bastards
One of my first audiobooks was Harry Potter. The narrator is fantastic!
I love the narration of George Guidall. He’s done lots of fantasy books. My favorites are American Gods (Neil Gaiman) and The golem and the djinni (Helene Wecker)
Rivers of London – brilliant narrator (Kobna Holdbrook-Smith) (apparently Ben Aaronavitch keeps trying to think of new accents to put in the books so the narrator has to figure them out).
Also Peter Kenny reading Claire North’s books is excellent
Sara j mass. Throne of glass. The narrator is so good.
I so far listened to game of thrones and the first two books of the lord of the rings
@Hailey did you enjoy lord of the rings?
Red Rising (engaging narrator), Ready Player One (Will Wheaton), The Graveyard Book (any Neil Gaiman as he read his own books), The Hobbit (one if the best narrations ive heard), i hated The Lies of Locke Lamora but the narrator was excellent. These are some of the best fantasy audiobooks I’ve listened to (I’ve had eye issues).
Golden compass and all the dark material series. The author actually reads parts. It is fun cause each character has its own voice actor
Audiobooks have really taken off lately, so there’s tons of really good ones. 🙂
One of y all-time faves is Insomnia by Steven King, read by Eli Wallach. He has such a soothing voice. 🙂
And if you haven’t already read the Harry Potter books, the audio versions are incredible. Jim Dale is in the Guinness book of World Record for creating something like 180 distinct, unique voices for the books. 🙂
@Mike I’ve not read any of HP…. was thinking of this. This is good to know, thank you
Ha! Well, if you start with those, you will totally get spoiled. 😛
@Mike I second the HP books. We did those over a long road trip.
@Anna thank you, I’m on this ??
I really enjoy graphic audiobooks with the sound effects.
@Jesse The “pew-pew” from the Star Wars books makes me laugh.
Audiobooks *spits* never
Thank you all for your replies. I will look at all suggestions
