Anything from James Herbert (the Ash trilogy – Haunted, The Ghosts of Sleath, Ash in particular) or Shaun Hutson.
Love everything Stephen king but I think the creepiest one I read so far was misery. A little different than the movie
Second Joe Hill. Really like his books. I just bought one called A head full of ghosts that is supposed to be good. Also like Robert R. Mccammon’s Swan Song.
The only horror book I ever read was Amityville Horror. Don’t recall the author. Scared the begeezus out of me. Long time ago though.
All of Poppy Z. Brite’ s older stuff, Haunting of Hill House, and We have always lived in the castle.
Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane is a pretty scary book; while not truly a horror story it’s quite a mind trip!
I just read Gilchrist by Christian Galacar. It was really good and read a lot like a Stephen King book.
Jonathan Maberry, Robert McCammon, Stephen King, Peter Straub
Anything Stephen King. Peter Straub also.
