J.D. Barker was great and reminded me a lot of Chris Carter. It’s the 4 monkey killer series
@Nancy thanks will look him up
@Avril I really liked them a lot! couldn’t put them aside
@Nancy just finished the 4 monkeys and really enjoyed it, thanks for recommendation
@Avril up to ‘The fifth to die’ then, that’s even better !!

@Lee a great read left me breathless

@Avril yeh, I’m really enjoying it. I’ve downloaded the first eight…I think? But it’ll take me a while to get through them! ☹
Thanks @Joanne… how’s your writing going?
@Lee sadly haven’t had much time to write cos I’m so busy with work and my studies. But I’m currently working on my 36th chapter for my Thunderbirds fan fic. I’m determined to get it finished eventually lol. How’s your new book coming along?
@Joanne ugh, same situation as you I guess… no time at all to write at the moment. Had to push all my deadlines right back ?
@Lee if your next book is as great as your first it will be worth waiting for.
@Joanne … no pressure then!! ?

Tania Carver is also brilliant ?
@Pauline thanks
– Cody McFadyen’s Smoky Barrett series
– Lars Kepler’s Joona Linna series
– Chelsea Cain’s Archie & Gretchen series
– Val McDermid’s Tony Hill series
– Simon Beckett’s David Hunter series
Story wise they need to be read in order?

Omg yesss smoky barrett series are one of my faves. Altho a bit grim at times! And david hunter series are so clever and well built up, amazing ?
@Michael writes violent, fast-paced and character-driven crime thrillers.
@Michael Thanks for the likes, Amanda and Avril.
Helen French. Her crime thriller books are gripping fast paced, good character interaction but can be gruesome.
@Conrad and @Rob have the gruesome factor in their books.
@Susan thank you very much ☠☠☠???????
Thank you for the mention. Susan. Much appreciated. x
Catherine Coulter, Tom Lowe, BJ Bourg
Rachel Lynch is a relatively new writer, her 4th is out this month.
Patrica Gibney, Carol Wyer, Angela Marsons, Robert Bryndza, Victoria Jenkins – all very, very good writers.
I’ve been told that Chris Mooney is very similar to Chris carter although I havent read any of his yet…I have the first book in the series to read xx
@Gemma he is great chic xx
Not the same gene, but you might enjoy John Connolly ( Every Dead Thing)
Steve Cavanagh
Woohoo, Avril, I’m delighted to be mentioned alongside maestro Chris Carter! Thank you for making me smile this morning. 🙂 Note to self: I must write faster…
You might try Stuart MacBride too, Avril – this one of his was a prize in a competition I ran a while back:
@William I’m not keen on the Logan Macrae books may try reading them again but not sure.
I’d suggest trying his standalones, Avril… Maybe Sawbones or A Dark So Deadly.
Paul Finch’s DC Heck books really good. Oh and Erica Spindler and Angela Marsden.
I’m currently reading my very first Chris Carter, The Crucifix Killer… so far so good ?
J.A. Konraith’s Jack Daniels series is both gruesome and one you laugh at.
