@Dawn yeah. I can take violence and gore but in context and not full on from the get go. Even though I read and finished The Teacher I would not read anything else by the same author for similar reasons.
I just recently got into reading his books and totally love them and the characters especially the partnership between Hunter and Garcia I’ve also started reading Chris Mooney’s books(no relation) very enjoyable as well
Carter may be a brilliant writer, but I’ll never know, because I find serial killer stories both creepy and boring — might as well just go for full-on horror.
If we all loved the same authors how boring posts would be, none of us would go outside our genre, so no you are let off not liking CC this time but don’t let it keep happening 🙂
I tried and tried to get on with them but I’m with you. I’ve read the First three or four but couldn’t go on due to the very poorly written supporting characters. (In my opinion)
I absolutely love his books (I’m a little obsessed actually lol) but everyone has there own tastes and it would be boring if we all liked the same thing
@Angela Lots of different authors across genres. But Crime/thriller wise recently I’ve enjoyed Scandi/Nordic stuff. I used to be a big McDermid fan years ago. Peter Swanson, Mark Billingham, Michael Wood, Mark Edwards, Helen Fields to Agatha Christie. Lots of variety there!
I can’t get into his books either and to be honest don’t know what the fuss is about. I started the Crucifix Killer but gave up because of the poor writing.
Not the only one….but probably for different reasons as I am not squeamish about that type of stuff. I found the first book was almost a rip-off of the “Saw” movies. Also reminded me a lot of the show Criminal Minds. I hoped the second one would be better, but still couldn’t get into it and haven’t gone back for the 3rd one yet.
I can’t put his books down, 🙂 I love Chris Carters writing and hate having to wait for his new book to be published, it’s like a child waiting for Christmas 🙂
Sadly not. I started the first one but the head hopping and bad editing really grated on me. I was really looking forward to reading the whole series. C’est la vie. ?
It is like all books. I have seen books with rave reviews and yet I have given up on the book – it is just not for me, yet other books that I have loved, have got negative reviews. With friends we have books that we both love, and then books that I love that they would never pick up and vice versa. Each to their own and it would be a dull world if we were all the same.
Each to their own but i just love them
My friend @Amber couldn’t get into the first book when she tried it the first time. She came back to it later and loved it.
@Jean but now I’m nervous about book 2 and u know why. Dont wanna give away spoilers
You’ll be fine
yep ? nah im sure they arent for everyone but i for one think hes amazing x
Yep!!
No I can’t get into them either x
I love Chris Carter books can get so engrossed in them
Love them
I don’t like them could not get into them x
Me too
Love Chris Carter books.
No, I gave up on the first page of the first one I tried – which is really unusual for me.
@Karen curious as to why?
@Scott gratuitous violence.
@Karen ok
@Karen …that’s what I felt too.
@Dawn yeah. I can take violence and gore but in context and not full on from the get go. Even though I read and finished The Teacher I would not read anything else by the same author for similar reasons.
Not many, Chris Carter is awesome unless you are a little squeamish
Iv never heard ne1 say this before lol
I’ve haven’t read one

Is he the writer who created THE X FILES tv series?
@Mark No he isn’t
Not impressed
Read a few and enjoyed them

No. You’re not alone. Different strokes for different folks. Live and let live. Don’t think twice about it.
Love them to
i read one and did not like it. but it seems most people love them
Nope. I tried and ditched out, also. We can’t all enjoy exactly the same things… And I’ve got plenty of exciting titles lined up, waiting to be read…
I’ve just started crucifix killer, can’t put it down. I’m really struggling to get anything done. This is the first time I’ve read this authors work.
Great books. I’ve read them all.
Absolutely love them but it must be a blessing for authors that we all don’t like the same things ! ❤️?
Absolutely ? them …. wouldn’t pay for us all to be the same tho … only 1 genre for everyone! ….. x
Really enjoyed them.
I cannot get into them either
@Connie ???
@Proinsios Same here!
I just recently got into reading his books and totally love them and the characters especially the partnership between Hunter and Garcia
I’ve also started reading Chris Mooney’s books(no relation) very enjoyable as well
I find them far to gruesome!!
@Sue ?Loved em all !!
@Sue me too…seemed gratuitous
The guy is brilliant
Love his books but just as well we all don’t like the same things
Everyone is different I guess…I’ve read em all and Loved them all !!!
Can’t stand them, I find them really patronising x
Carter may be a brilliant writer, but I’ll never know, because I find serial killer stories both creepy and boring — might as well just go for full-on horror.
Yes! He is brilliant
If we all loved the same authors how boring posts would be, none of us would go outside our genre, so no you are let off not liking CC this time but don’t let it keep happening 🙂

My absolute fave…. I miss his sick mind now I’ve binged read them ?
I love them!
Brilliant author ..
I’ve only read The Crucifix Killer but found the dialogue a bit cheesy and haven’t bothered to read any others.
I absolutely love his books ??
Me too! I was very disappointed in the one I read. Thought it was very poorly written. Thought it was just me..
@Debbie no it’s not just you.
Never read one
I absolutely love his books (I’m a little obsessed actually lol) but everyone has there own tastes and it would be boring if we all liked the same thing
Love them!
Kat Duncan!
Ive read his first one. Found it extremly good. Trying to get the next one
I cant believe you dont like his books . I bloody love em
I can’t believe that you bloody love em! Different strokes. 😉
Yep i love the gore ?
I’ve never been tempted to read them
Brilliant books. All of them
Me neither. I read one and felt it was rather OTT for me and like I knew where it was heading. Not my cup of tea. But so many love them.
@Rachel who wud u norm read? Can’t imagine a better author!
I wish I could get hold of some of them !!?
Haven’t known a.one yet not to like this author but I e.one is different. Maybe it’s a bad one. Which one are u reading?
I love him until the last 10 percent. I don’t find him great at closing out a book
I can’t get into his books either and to be honest don’t know what the fuss is about. I started the Crucifix Killer but gave up because of the poor writing.
@Jackie rats. I have that one in my TBR pile.
@Jackie I think this was the one I read too.
@Robin give it a try. We’re all different you might love it.
I find him incredibly cliche, but I also enjoy it ?♀️?
I love his series
Love them!

I can’t either.
But once you get in…they’re brilliant!
I absolutely love love love his books
Really? I don’t seem to do anything I should when iam reading a Chris Carter!! Cant put it down lol ??
Love absolutely love his books
I can’t put his books down, 🙂 I love Chris Carters writing and hate having to wait for his new book to be published, it’s like a child waiting for Christmas 🙂
Loved the first book then it went downhill for me ?and its halted now at book 4. I’ll continue it if I really have nothing else to read.
Sadly not. I started the first one but the head hopping and bad editing really grated on me. I was really looking forward to reading the whole series. C’est la vie. ?
I love his books however, they’re not for everyone.
Me neither.
Me either ?
I couldn’t. Though it seems I am an exception ☹️
I loved all his books – we cant like all the same things.
I have just finished I am Death. Now wondering what to read next.
I think you are in the minority group
Linda, he has a new one coming out soon, called Hunting Evil. can’t wait.
We can’t all love the same authors, there are certain writers I wouldn’t choose to read again, it’s what makes this page so interesting.
Me neither.
I love his books
