It is one of my favorites. If you can get your hands on the DVD of it with Geraldine Page I highly recommend it too. That was my first discovery many, many years ago, and then I got the book. It is lovely.

I’m fortunate to have a lovely edition with a slipcase that my mother gave to me at least 40 years ago, and the other which has lovely illustrations that Jackie mentioned.

That is my favorite! So much reminds me of Christmas as a child with my grandmother in rural Alabama. Planning for fruitcake…I gave gifts of this book one year for Christmas to my friends. Believe or not I just sent a copy to my mom today.
