Im on medication to control it but awaiting to be tranferred from children to adult hospital and its down to my adult consultant whether to continue medication or to take action and do a liver transplant but im stable with medication and have been since auguest 2014
I’ll respond when I’m done reading your post. I’m done! I’m a slow reader because I like to enjoy every detail that the author has written and I don’t want to miss anything.
Before I started medication for my mental illnesses, I could easily read 1-2 books a day, even large ones without trying. Made college easy lol. Now? Pfffft. Slowed my brain down and makes it harder to comprehend and retain. But it’s okay. I get to live in the worlds longer now.
I read at my own pace and I don’t rush through. I usually try to read for about two hours a day. But if I don’t know the meaning of a word I use a dictionary app and look it up. Sometimes that sets me back a little
I’m not sure if I’m a slow or fast reader to be honest, but I only really get to read when I go to bed so books can take a couple of weeks to finish sometimes, all depends how often I fall asleep in them!! I have two teenagers one 6 year old and two dogs alongside a full time job so I don’t get to read as often as I like unfortunately
Me, I have a slight reading disorder. If I’m reading a novel, it goes quicker because I’m not trying to learn anything. It’s just reading for pleasure.
I do have other hobbies like drawing, crocheting, knitting, and I do go out and do things. Reading is something else I enjoy doing. I appreciate what you said. 🙂 I really needed that @Tricia and @Hayley.
It varies wildly, depending on the book, and my free, focused time. These days it usually averages to a book a week, but some books take months, because I’m just not in the right mood for the writing or genre, sometimes because I want to savor it, but usually I have no control over the reeeally good ones, and they zip by quickly.
Depends on the book… One I’m currently reading is at a rate of about 20 words per day… It’s got a strange rhythm that keeps yanking me back out of the story every other sentence. Should go faster once I adapt to the style…
I used to be a very slow reader cuz I like savoring every book. Then my TBR went out of control and I had to read a bit faster than my usual pace because there’s just too many great books I want to devour. I’m not a speed reader though. I don’t like skipping details.
I’m still a wee bit slow. BUT the more I’ve read the quicker my pace is and if I’m REALLY in to it, I’m even faster. Also, my oldest (when she was in 1st or 2nd grade) came to me upset that everyone in her class read faster then her. I asked her”When you read do you understand what your reading? And answer you’re teacher’s questions correctly?” She said yes. Then I told her the kids who read faster don’t. So not to worry yhe speed will come the more you read. ?
I’m not very fast, I don’t care, because I just read books that makes me happy, but most of the time it depends on the book, some I read a little faster than others.
Depending on the book, how many times I have read it and how much it captures me, I will read at different speeds. But I never read fast. I like to savor a book.
I can speed read through boring stuff, but most books I like to read slowly and savor. I rarely get to read more than 20 minutes at a time. Another reason I can’t borrow books from a library!!
Everyone is different. I tend to be a fast reader – for paperbacks, my rule of thumb is 1 page per minute – 300 pages = 5 hours. For me, it is not about speed, but enjoyment – I read because I enjoy it. If you are a *slow* reader, but enjoy what you read, the good for you!
I do! Thanks to my dyslexia!
I am a slow reader. Just the way I read. But I enjoy every word.
Me too
✋?✋? yay! I’m not alone.
Depends on the read!!!
Is there slow and fast reading ?! I guess we all read the way we enjoy ? some books I read like 50 pages an hour some double etc ?
I have to be careful that I don’t read too quickly. Sometimes have to consciously slow myself down
Seems like im not the only one here.
I do but my medical condition is really difficult to understand
I wish you get better soon 🙂
I also have bad reading comprehension too
Im on medication to control it but awaiting to be tranferred from children to adult hospital and its down to my adult consultant whether to continue medication or to take action and do a liver transplant but im stable with medication and have been since auguest 2014
@Belén from pyschologists assessments my speed processing is alot slower than other peoples
Mine too! I have Asperger’s syndrome and my processing is super slow
I wish you both get better soon, i was sick too but thank God i’m better now after 6 months treatment.
Thank you
My pleasure 🙂
Depends… If the book is interesting,i will finish it in just 3 days.
I read at the same rate I talk. I like to experience books in “real time”.
Me but I have dyslexia.
I think I read slow. Or is it that I don’t have as much time to read as I’d like?
I think I am, some people think I’m not. A 400 page book depending on my interest level can take between 2-5 days.
I’m not a slow reader but I don’t get to read as often as I would like maybe 40min a day so it takes me time to get through books xxx
I’m Not a fast reader but I do enjoy the journey that the book takes me on though
So slow!!
????
Super slow here too ✋

Same here. X
My dyslexia makes it hard to read, let alone read fast.
Me! I like reading slow!?
I read quite slow. I used to be a very fast reader but now I prefer to let my imagination use some time to make the movie inside my head.
Me! Takes me forever to finish a book. But I’m ok with that. I’m in no hurry
My 17 year old son does
Me me me me!! Very slow reader!!
I like slow reading…there’s no fun in reading fast.
I read about a page a minute, is that slow?
✋✋✋✋✋✋
It really depends on the book for me
Me.
I’m kind of a slow reader, probably between 20-30 pages an hour.
Nothing wrong with that very normal ?
I read at my own pace and I don’t rush through. I usually try to read for about two hours a day. But if I don’t know the meaning of a word I use a dictionary app and look it up. Sometimes that sets me back a little
I am very same ??

I read slow bout book a week but might take 2 if super busy not a race as my friend @Riobard says ☺?
I do…which is why I don’t comment on the number of books I’ve read in a year…
As i say its not a race like to take my time and enjoy the book ☺
I know, but it sometimes makes me feel like I’m not good enough to be declared a book lover.
Course you are ☺ but you cant read 24 7 need other hobbies to ☺
So true @Hayley its not how much your read its that you read ?
I do have other hobbies like drawing, crocheting, knitting, and I do go out and do things. Reading is something else I enjoy doing. I appreciate what you said. 🙂 I really needed that @Tricia and @Hayley.
Ah glad i could help wow you are brilliant lots of talent @Caterina should be proud ?
🙂 I’m just very into artistic expression.
Your very lucky to have the talent ?
Thank you
That’s cool @Caterina, I like to create things too 🙂
Really? Awesome!
Me I guess
Takes me usually 2 weeks to finish 1 book depending on how long it is

I’m also here…..
A book per week. ..
Not more than that…
And sometimes – more than that too ????
I’m in no hurry to finish a book.
Me nieter
Me. I remember being a faster reader when i was younger. My eye doctor said that is normal.
sometimes it takes a month or 1 day . there is no in between. lol
I just don’t get much time and have to work to concentrate sometimes.
That would depend on the book!
I do

I am only doing it with an Italian book because it is not my main language. With Spanish and English I read normal loooool
I read slow too

well, after taking that speed reading test and seeing what everyone else got for scores I would say I do ?
I missed it. What speed reading test?
http://www.myreadspeed.com/
@Robin thank you!
Me. I do. I so wish I could speed read. There’s so many books I want to read!
Everyone told me that speed reading is for gathering a lot of information. Not for leisure reading
Yes I read slow, idk why…just not a fast reader. But I can also skim pretty fast and understand what I just skimmed thru
well, I usually am not a slow reader but this month I have only managed 1 book so far…..
I’m still a wee bit slow. BUT the more I’ve read the quicker my pace is and if I’m REALLY in to it, I’m even faster.

I have a 4 year old so it takes me a while to read a book sometimes :p
I enjoy reading slowly. I read an average of three books per month.
Yes I do feel that I read slow
I read very slowly. Always have. But I have high retention.
Don’t matter..we were all slower at one time..keep reading, you’ll get faster.
I read slow too. A book a week.
Me
When I was younger I use to read fast but now it just seems I read slower now but I still love to read my books and get more books.
Me!! It drives me crazy!! So many good books so little time
I do but not on purpose.
Me
What’s the hurry? I enjoy reading. Why rush?
Before I used to read so fast like 1 book only took me 2 days or 3 but now it take me nearly 1 month to finish a book ?
I do, sometimes I have to re-read something to make sure I read it correctly
I’m almost finished with a book I started 5 hours ago. This is rare, I usually take 3 days to finish ?
Me too!
I’m savoring the book. I don’t read super slow
Me
Me…I guess. Best I can do is 50 pages a day. Last I can do is 10 pages a day
How slow do you read?
It takes me about a week to finish a book
Well…that not bad. I guess its natural more or less…but also depends how much time you get to read.
So long books are you talking about, 300+ pages or more than that?
Usually it’s any length of book. I’m also terrible at finishing books and series too because I get so distracted by other books haha
Haha…you don’t seem like that slow to me. You have good speed. ?
Me ✋️
I do.
I’m not very fast, I don’t care, because I just read books that makes me happy, but most of the time it depends on the book, some I read a little faster than others.

Me.. I get to read in 10-30 min spurts with my kids or at work
I read fast…..in french and englih.
I can speed read through boring stuff, but most books I like to read slowly and savor. I rarely get to read more than 20 minutes at a time. Another reason I can’t borrow books from a library!!
I finish a 200 page in a day or two… ?
*waves* OVER HERE!
It depends on the book
Me!

same here,
Guilty
I’m not very fast and often have to go over line’s Ive read or more if left for a day to remind me of who’s talking ?
I hate if I have to reread in order to sort out who is speaking. I consider it bad writing.
Never thought of it like that?
