@Cassandra just download library to your phone in google player or apple store that will connect you to library . it only works on the arura . but there is a way to get it on your kobo but it’s a pain ?
I have tried many including the iPad which is harder to read on. Kindle fire is not as easy either as it’s a tablet. Kindle paperwhite is great and the books are reasonable for the most part. Kobo glo is wonderful as well and in Canada easier to come by as well
@Sean yes I agree. I love my kobo I just wish library books were easier to download. I did figure mine out though! Now it’s time to go read all these books lol
And to follow up on what @Sean asked – where do you do most of your reading? It’s impossible to read the fire by my pool because of the glare. Paperwhite has no glare but is strictly for reading
I had e-readers from early on – Sony, B&N, 4 kindles. Past posts are so very true – Kindle Fire has glare for reading outside. paperwight is great for reading both outdoors & indoors. Fire is good for indoor reading & using like a tablet. Sadly the ease of use of Amazon products have made competing products obsloete.
It so depends on what you like and where you read. I use the shubook app on my ipad mini and calibre software on my computer and am completely happy with that.
I love my Kindles! I have a Fire, which does much more than just let me read books and The Paperwhite, which travels everywhere with me, fits in my purse, holds over 2600 books and keeps a charge for a week!
I have the kindle app on my iPhone and a kindle fire. My original kindle paper white recently died and tho the others work just fine, without a doubt I will be buying a paper white as it is the best for reading in general
For me, it’s a combo of my iPad and my Kindle Voyage. I use both equally. I just love my iPad, but can’t beat the kindle for reading in direct sunlight.
I use a Kindle Fire because when my eyes get tired, I use the text to speech which uses a human voice and is easy to listen to. When I’m editing, it is useful to have the book read to me.
Kobo Clara.
How do you get library books on your kobo? I have the glo and it’s a nightmare!
@Cassandra just download library to your phone in google player or apple store that will connect you to library . it only works on the arura . but there is a way to get it on your kobo but it’s a pain ?

If the kobo was easy to get library books onto it, it would be the best e reader ever.
Kobo is a wonderful reader. I like the interface better
@Sean yes I agree. I love my kobo I just wish library books were easier to download. I did figure mine out though! Now it’s time to go read all these books lol
A tablet is very bad for your eyes though
Kindle
I guess we should ask what do you want. A true ereader or tablet
There are sites that send free books daily on kindle…you check the genre and they send books….the best one is http://freebooksky.com/ and http://bookbub.com/
And to follow up on what @Sean asked – where do you do most of your reading? It’s impossible to read the fire by my pool because of the glare. Paperwhite has no glare but is strictly for reading

Paperwhite—can go outside no glare

@Richard does it have a light up screen as well?
@Heather sorry I took so long to reply. Yes it does, it’ll even auto adjust to the light you are in.

For a dedicated reading device that’s not a tablet, the Kindle Paperwhite would be my first choice

I have a Samsung tablet with 3 different apps to read. I mainly use the Kindle for Samsung app and it’s perfect!
For me, it’s a combo of my iPad and my Kindle Voyage. I use both equally. I just love my iPad, but can’t beat the kindle for reading in direct sunlight.
Exactly what I do.
One with the longest battery life
I use a Kindle Fire because when my eyes get tired, I use the text to speech which uses a human voice and is easy to listen to. When I’m editing, it is useful to have the book read to me.
Does it do text to speech for kindle books?
@Margaret Yes and there is a choice of male and female voices.
