Yes! But there’s a new Paperwhite coming out soon. Waterproof and double the storage I believe… you MIGHT want to hold out and see what sort of feedback it gets. Might be worth the wait…!
Kindle Papsrwhite is fabulous. Can read indoors or outdoors with no glare off the screen. Love mine. I actually have two so that one is always charged.
I have a kindle fire and love it. It’s basically my ipad. I do everything on it. Read, Facebook, email. I rarely use my laptop anymore. I read both on kindle and paperback. Definitely worth the money imo!
I had been just reading real books, but decided to buy a paper white Kindle during a sale. I am reading my first book on it The Martian! I really think I read faster on it, than I do with books. Loving it!
Yes, I’m packing for a European cruise. Don’t want to pack a bunch of library books or keep my husband up with th light on so I can read. No other practical choice.
My daughter bought me a $200 one a few years ago..I used it so much I burnt it out…got another one the following year ( a bit cheaper) and really dont use it much at all..I love books! But I can say the Nexus brand reader is amazing!
Yes yes yes…… but I’ve just read there’s a new Paperwhite coming out in November – this one is waterproof (reading in the bath cones to mind)! I might need an upgrade
The Kindle Paperwhite is wonderful, it’s the only one I’ve found that doesn’t give me horrible headaches and eyes strain after hours of reading ^.^ Only downside is the organization of the books, I wish there was an easier way to do it—or at least more options. ^.^
What is the difference between paperwhite and fire? I’ve never had an electronic reader before, never interested me but I am considering one now I have a 3 month old. I haven’t read much due to always having my hands full and I think a kindle would be helpful for a bit of reading without switching on a light?
Mostly the difference is in battery life AND screen. There’s a difference that the fire functions closer to a tablet too, but when it comes to books/reading those are the two main ones. Amazon shows a bit of a comparison “chart” too to help buyers decide but honestly… the Paperwhite is superior BY FAR if ALL you’re using it for is reading.
I have a Samsung Galaxy tab. Is this the same as a kindle? I get books from my library. This gives me 14 days to finish reading it. I didn’t realize I had to have wifi to be able to use it. Bummer.
Kindle Paper White. Love it. I can carry ALL my books and TBR stack in my back pocket. Very convenient. I can read in the dark. Also, I can read it and use both hand to eat. I understand the good feeling that holding a paper book gives; it was difficult for me to make the change to an ereader. Last night I started reading a hard-bound booki, but the print was too small. I grabbed my Kindle, played with the adjustable font (bigger and changed the style) and read until I Zzzzzz’d.
I’m on my second Nook. Because I’m a nerd and a book hoarder, sometimes I just have to have a book right NOW. The Nook makes this possible much of the time. It’s a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 Nook so it’s also a tablet that I can check my emails on, go on Facebook, play games – oh and read books on. I love it. It’s also easy to take to the gym and read books while I’m on the treadmill. (this is starting to sound like a commercial).
I still have one like that. I do much more prefer the buttons than the touch screen. I have a Nook with a touch screen. Prefer the buttons on my kindle.
I vote yes! Specifically the Paperwhite.
If you want a dedicated reading device that you can read in any lighting, with no glare, and decreased eyestrain, I say the Kindle Paperwhite.
Love my paperwhite
I have a kindle fire I bought last year or year before. Love it
So the paperwhite is a kindle as well? I have much to learn. Lol
Yes for sure
Can you use hoopla for downloading library ebooks on kindle?
@Loba if you have a fire kindle which you can easily root then yeah you can. I use Libby for it which is similar to hoopla.
@Efterpi great thanks!

@Serenity I use my paperwhite to read in bed at night. I’ve also heard they are the best for reading outside – no glare from the sun.
@Serenity they are also great for travelling and the battery life is much much longer than a tablet.

I’m a book lover. My books are like security blankets when I look around and see them. Sorry! Not anything else for me. I like the feel of a book.
