Thinking of the kindle offers and realised not everyone reads on kindle as an E reader. Which E reader do you use?

I use fbreader and kindle both on my phone and tablet. I don’t own a “e-reader” as such
Kindle ?
I have my kindle, but I also use the kindle app on my tablet.
I have a Kindle but use the Kindle app on my phone more than anything
@John sane as me. I have a kindle but use the app more
Have the Kindle app on my tablet and phone but prefer the actual Kindle.
@Carol I use my kindle too. Very difficult to read a book on my phone.
I use the kindle app on my Samsung tablet.
Kindle , I lay in bed and read before sleep 🙂
Use a Kobo Aura
@Lynne Is there a good amount of books to choose from?
@Susan Yes most of the reccomendations on here, you can also download library books on it as well, haven’t tried that yet though
@Lynne Oh that’s interesting. I have Overdrive app for library books but not tried it yet.
Kindle Paperwhite.
I have a kindle, don’t know the model as it was a gift some years ago. I’d like a kobo e-reader too.
@Simon I used to use Kobo on a Blackberry tablet, but bought a Kindle paperwhite as a lot of books weren’t available on Kobo. Can I ask why you want a Kobo?
@Susan because I publish on kobo as well as Kindle, I think it’s a good idea to have one to check my book as it appears to readers.
Also, having experienced putting my books into kobo promotions, I know there are frequent deals. Finally, another author I know prefers his kobo reader to his kindle reader as he says it’s a nicer gadget to use. ? plus, everyone likes a new gadget lol
@Simon Perfect reason then. Thank You. And yes everyone loves a new gadget
I’m old school and have the first kindle keyboard, never let me down, battery lasts a month.. Hubby bought me a kindle fire but I don’t use it!
Same! I gather the keyboard-less version is a little less chunky but I find I use the keyboard enough that it would be a hassle not to have it.
I also do a lot of reading using the Aldiko app on my phone, though (especially just while waiting for trains and such): the Kindle has a much nicer screen but it’s another gadget to lug around.
I have the kindle app on my phone also.. They sync so I’m never far from a book!
@Wendy I keep my Kindle’s wi-fi off to (further) extend the battery life, but it’s easy to search for the place I stopped reading: very much a point in favour of the keyboard model.
@Damon. I’ve just started to do this and I’ve found the battery lasts a lot longer
Yep and good in bright sunshine too (not that I get any in Scotland!)
@Susan I know, right? Even with wi-fi on it lasts longer than you could possibly need it to between charges, but I find that turning it off means that I can pick the thing up even after a couple of months not using it and find it’s still got some juice left. It’s the difference between having to charge it before I start reading something new, and being able to wait until afterwards.
@Damon I use mine every day for quite a while. Had to recharge quite regularly. Now it lasts a lot longer before being charged
Kindle paperwhite
Kindle app, or Aldiko reader on my Samsung tablet. Best of both worlds.
@Janis never heard of the Aldiko reader.
It’s a software app for reading epubs.
Yes, sorry Susan. Both are aps. I use it to reads PDF and ASCM (books with limited shelflife for publication reasons) in my reviewing work.
Kindle app on iPhone or ancient kindle
Kobo. I used to use a Kindle, but the moment I first switched a Kobo on, I was converted. Not used my Kindle since.
I use the kindle app on my iPad. Have to buy books via the web and send them to the app. Works quite well!
Kindle and kobo sometimes the same book is cheaper on the other
Amazon Fire kindle
Yeah I use the kindle app on both phone and tablet. Still prefer the feel of a real book though ?
I have a kindle fire and paper white as well as phone app, they all have their uses.
I use the Kindle app on my Samsung phone and tablet but prefer a paper book.
Kindle app on my iPad
I love my Kindle paper white but I do enjoy an actual book. I’ve had e-readers since 2007 when the Sony PRS505 came out. It was a truly beautiful bit of kit.
Kindle paperwhite and the kindle app on my phone and works computer all linked together.
I use kindle fire , Miss an actual book though I sometimes feel books in the supermarket , bet I look like a proper weirdo , saying that I enjoy my kindle
Also a question unrelated sometimes when I have already downloaded a book, it disappears and I have too download again too read, does it quite often, spoke too Amazon, they say there’s nothing wrong with my kindle but deffo some kind of technical issue, it’s only just started doing it about 3 books ago
@Donna That’s strange. I’ve never had that happen
@Susan put it back too factory settings twice, done all the trouble shooting etc , I am sure will work it out eventually
@Donna Sorry I can’t help, I hope it does get back to normal for you
@Susan hopefully
I just use the app on my phone, that way if I forget to take an actual book out with me I’ve still got something to read ?
I have a Kindle paperwhite but I also have the kindle app on my phone so I’m always able to read, even if I forget to take a book or my kindle out b
Kobo Clara
Kindle keyboard. (For work)
Kindle fire original (in living room)
Kindle fire tablet (in handbag)
Kindle oasis (bath n bed)
Kindle app on phone (emergency only)
I love my kindle paperwhite although I have been known to use the kindle app on my iphone, another unrelated question, I sometimes get the “my clippings” file appear amongst the books I’ve downloaded I kept deleting it but it keeps coming back, any ideas anyone?
Kobo
Kindle on ipad
Kobo, thinking of looking at Kindle if I can get to a store that sells them. 🙂
My iPhone
I tend to read on my iPhone. X
Kindle & iPhone
I have both kindle and kobo but tend to use kindle more so not everything I want is available on kobo and price art wideley
KOBO H2O but most of the great deals are for Kindle and they are not compatible for KOBO. I bought a book on Amazon to try to turn it in to an EPUB with Calibre but they are protected (they say it’s a KFX book?) The input is AZW
@Saskia Not sure I fully understand that as I thought, from my limited knowledge, that Calibre was able to convert mobi and ePub
@Susan true only the file I receive is not a mobi but AZW and when i let the Calibre run it’s magic it says that it can’t do it because it’s a KFX book. I have all the Calibre plug-ins & the most recent Calibre version but still no luck.
Kindle paper white and sometimes on my Fire.
Kindle reader and Kindle for iPad
I own a Kindle and a first generation Nook (which is no longer supported )
I use the Kindle App on my iPad. Copes with my 10k library of books. I use a Kindle Paperwhite outside though.
I use kindle app on my iPad mini, I find it better than my paperwhite other than if I read outside in summer.
