@Jasmine you are in LA county? Just go to your local library and say you want to get set up with an online account. LA county has almost everything and it’s completely free.
@Jessica a bunch have holds at my library too. But they go pretty quick. And I have so much on my tbr I can always find something that’s available. I just keep my holds stacked so I’ve always got something coming in.
@Jessica also my library has multiple apps for ebooks and audiobooks. So if libby doesnt have it I’ll check rb digital next. Usually one of the two will have it. Though I really prefer the user interface on libby.
@Jasmine I guess it depends on what kind of books you like. I listen to romance, young adult and mysteries and all my favorite authors are on there. Tons of books to choose from.
I use audible. Every book is 1 credit, but if you don’t like the book or the narrator, or for any reason, you can exchange it. I’ve done it so many times, I’ve gotten a lot of free audio books lol We get 2 credits a month for $22.95, but I almost always exchange a book because I didn’t like it or know I’ll never listen to it again and get a different. I have over 400 books in my audible library. It’s worth it if you listen to a lot of audiobooks, but if you don’t, you should try a cheaper/free option. I listen every day for a few hours, sometimes just before bed.
You should check if your library is affiliated with an app called Hoopla. Tons of free audiobooks! Depending on your library, you get a limit of so many books per month (my limit is 6)
I don’t know where you live, but my city’s library has lots of audiobooks, all for free. Then I use “Libby” to access them for the determined number of days.

there will be a wait on some of the most popular audio books. Like I’ve probably been waiting for Illumanae for months.
@Ashley really. I tried getting books from it and they are all on hold for weeks or they don’t have it. I guess it depends on your library

That is SO good to know! I had an audiobook that I started but the narrator was so so bad. I wish I had known I could exchange it.
Have you checked your library? Mine has a pretty decent selection on Overdrive.
I use my library as well. We have an awesome app called Libby
