I was lucky but my next door neighbor in my townhouse section lost a lot of her shingles and the tarp. I was spooked as it started getting light out. The tarp was caught up in something in another neighbor’s yard and kept rising and peeking over the fence and going down again. I was relieved when I finally found out what it was. Flooding from the river in some parts of town. We were hit by Matthew the previous year out toward the Beaches and they were still trying to recover from that. I know a lot of people who lived near the river who either basically lost their homes or are trying to rebuild. What was feared with Matthew came true with Irma.
Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi because it’s history that we need to know and A Gentleman in Moscow because it is so thought provoking and beautifully written. Both authors are so gifted. ?

A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles. I’ll use any and all opportunities to encourage others to read it and savor it like I did.
My vote, too. Any book -like this one- that can keep a scared person distracted as a hurricane is raging outside is an exceptional read.
Harvey, Irma, or Maria??
Irma
I hope that you were not too impacted. My kids in Houston ‘ducked’ Harvey, but just barely.

Sapiens – simply incredible. So much so I finished it, turned it over and read it again. It’s on my reading list for this year as well. A must read.
