That’s an awesome book! I read it my senior year of high school. As I recall, the first dozen or so chapters is literally just introducing the main characters so you have to really pay attention and understand that there is a point to it all.
@Nathon : I’ve read/listened to the book several times and I really enjoyed the TV serialization of the book. There was a lot of standout acting all the way through. (It might still be available through Amazon.)
It’s not the length of the book. I read a lot of long books and I already have the unabridged version. I’m just not super into dystopian. And my tbr pile is huge.
I’m going to have to look at the Nightingale. I’ve read and listened on Audible The Book Thief. Hubby and I saw the movie. I thought they did a good job of representing the book in the movie.
I’m really bad at taking book suggestions seriously… I always read what I pick out or what I want to first… I haven’t read Harry Potter or Divergent to name a few lol
The Highlander’s Series by Jessi Gage. I started and then listened to some but then so much time was dedicated to “I want to go/I want to stay” and “I want her to go/I want her to stay” that I got disgusted and gave up.
I have to remind myself that I almost did the same with the Outlander series and enjoyed the other books very much. I’ll go back later. (See, I just talked myself into it. ???)
I loved the book AND the movie. However, I have a niece with younger children and she hated it. I get that. However, I have to say the author did a great job of representing the three sides of the Holy – God, Jesus and Holy Spirit. The movie did okay but that stuff is difficult to get just so. As I usually do, I recommend you read first and see movie second.
Couldn’t finish it. The editing was bad [or maybe just the writing] and I couldn’t get past it. I did, however. I did, however like the portrayal of the Trinity.
The Hate U Give and Strange the Dreamer ???
Read the hate you give asap, its amazing
Alchemist
Mortal Instruments.
Harry Potter don’t think I will read it
I know the feeling!
Just doesn’t interest me I watched them but don’t think I read the books
The Book Thief.
That’s a good one if you want to cry for an hour lol.
Same
The Stand by Stephen King.

@Nathon Thanks for the tip! ?
Plot is okay, but it definitely could have used some deep editing. Waaaay longer than it needed to be.
The ’78 version was cut by about a third and may be what you’re looking for.
It’s a great book, read it soon!

Linda, I think you have me confused with Robert. I read the unabridged version republished in ’90 or ’91.
Nathon Allen Balka : ? my 71 yo brain had a lapse. ?? Thanks for the heads up. Did you enjoy?

Linda, yes I did! Robert, better crack a book open. ?
The Nightingale
The Nightingale and The Book Thief.
Sorry , that’s 2, but I hear so much about both. ?

Game of throne. But only because I want George r Martin to finish before I start. I’m afraid he won’t.
That’s fair.
To Kill A Mockingbird but my New Years resolution was to read more classics this year so maybe? ?
There nothing wrong with the classics.
@Nathon agreed.
Read it eight grade & not my favorite.
@Serenity got it. Thanks ?
The Boys in the Boat

Ive JUST started simon vs the homosapians agebda
Harry Potter but I started it last night
The vampire diaries and I don’t think I ever will.
I haven’t read all those either. Just not my cup of tea.
Maybe it was the hype surrounding them I like vampire books. Maybe I just don’t like being told what to read too
They’re nothing like the tv show (if you’ve seen that). Very little substance to them.
The Shack – I don’t know why just have not picked this one up

Very good book. Easy read. Read it twice. But don’t see the movie, it’ll put you to sleep.
Six of Crows – I don’t read much YA, but that one seems up my alley. I just don’t want to read the other Grisha novels
You don’t need to read the other grisha novels, I hadn’t read anything by Leigh Bardugo and ate Six of Crow, omg it was so gooood ! :p
Ulysses by James Joyce. Considered consistently over the past forty years as the greatest English language work of literature.
A Court Of Thorns & Roses series. Read the first book & was bored. I don’t care what happens to the characters so no I won’t be finishing that series.
Good lord, basicly my tbr pile xD
Any book by Danielle Steel
The Book Theif… I even own it but haven’t managed to actually pick it up and read it yet ?
Throne of Glass.
The Book Theif, I have seen practically everyone and their grandmother’s cat read this book, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. I will try soon 🙂
It’s definitely worth the effort. The movie is definitely good as well.
Slade House
Harry Potter
