I love audible!! But only because I have a 4 hours commute each day and I listen to books in the car. It makes traffic suck way less and I get to enjoy books that I otherwise would not have time to sit down and read. Don’t get me wrong I love a paper book and prefer that hands down but this is what works for my life right now.
@Julie it’s two hours each way. I am in San Diego, but we loved and we didn’t take the kids out of their old school district, they are both in high school. So I drive them the opposite direction of my office and then head to work. But one should be getting her license in January so I will be able to go back to a somewhat normal commute.
I love audible. I don’t mind paying 14.95 for a single book. The ones I want are usually 22-30 bucks so that’s a pretty good discount. And since I drove my daughter 55 miles to her speech appointment 2x a week I need something to listen to. But I pad it with overdrive books from my library as well.
@Shirley I always recommend speeding up the reading for those who are bored by audio books. It takes a little getting used to but I listen to everything at 1.25 and have a buddy who does 1.75. Just a thought.
I have been a member since the beginning! They have grown so much. At the start it was hard to find editions that were the whole book. They have given me my money back the few times I have asked. I highly recommend them!
Changed my husbands daily commute, he is very thankful for it and has read i.e. listened to so much more than he would have as a consequence. I on the other hand do tend to struggle with the voices though currently can’t get enough of Michelle Obama reading her memoir.
I love it. I listen while doing stuff around the house and working. I still don’t count it towards my goodreads goal though, feels wrong when I’m not actually reading it, lol. But it’s so convenient.
I love it. I adore radio plays and audio books. I used to listen to them on my iPod but that died and I found I couldn’t listen to them on my phone as the files are protected for iPod/ Apple product use only. I switched to audible not looked back. Love being able to listen to my fav radio plays again and the originals which are free (such as Romeo and Jude, Stephen Fry’s Victorican Secrets) are wonderful
I love audible. I actually read the books first, and if I love the book, I will buy the audible. I listen while I travel, or when my insomnia kicks in.
I love audiobooks. But I get free from library. Of course there’s not such a good variety. Can’t listen when I’m doing nothing cause it puts me to sleep. Great while gardening, housework etc. I did download audible but discovered I could borrow for free
I love audiobooks and a subscriber of Audible. However, I can finish one book – usually around 10 hours on average- within a few days or a week so 2 credits/mo audible membership isn’t sufficient. I got myself two library cards(state and county) and borrow library audiobooks through Libby app by Overdrive. Tens of thousands to choose from. Highly recommended
Here is a snapshot of my Libby app showing available books, including audiobooks content on this App at San Francisco Public Library. And at the bottom you can see I’m currently listening to the President is Missing by James Patterson and Bill Cliton. This is honestly the best audio App i’ve ever used and it’s free as long as you have a library Card.
@Jenna This is exactly what I do, combine Audible and Libby. I save Audible credits for books I want to own, or for books I must have NOW, which usually are waitlisted in Libby. In addition, I have Library cards from two libraries as well, that have different digital databases and different wait times for popular books. The libraries are in different counties. One more comment, I am very happy with the Libby app itself. ?
Love it. Daily deals and frequent specials help someone who reads 5-6 books a month afford his hobby. I do love my Overdrive App as well since it is attached to my library and books are free. Both are easy to use. Audible just has every book when you want it.
Love it – especially complex books like ‘First you write a sentence’. Currently on Milkman which is fantastic being in an Irish accent – really brings the story alive. And West Cork is brilliant.
The library/Overdrive is nice because they are free. With Audible however, they have almost any audiobook you can possibly think of readily available when you want it. Plus the books are yours to own forever. Even if you cancel your membership.
i signed up for audible as they advertised a 3 month free trial but having tried it i personally wasnt too keen, the books were much more expensive than physical books, some audiobooks going for £30 when a physical copy is £10 on amazon, definitely pricey for my liking :/
I don’t want to buy any books. Now I loved hoopla and used my five books every month. I always wanted more. Now they have Libby and I love love love it.
My daughter has audible and will use a credit here and there to get very hard to find books but I don’t want that extra expense. I’m willing to wait for the free audiobook to come out.
Love Audible although some books are better read in a book e.g The Ballad of Peckham Rye , Muriel Spark . With audible – the reader of the audiobook is very important – they are variable – it helps to listen to the audiobook before buying it if you have never heard the reader before .
My only issue with audiobooks in general is with the large number of books that don’t have decent narrators/quality sound. Always sample before purchasing unless you know the narrator.
I love audiobooks. I’m usually listening while reading the book. But I have a toddler so It’s the only way I can get stuff done and still finish my book when I set myself a goal when to finish. Plus it’s nice to hear different voices rather than mine. Gives me a different perspective on the characters
I get mine from the library so I don’t think it’s worth it to me. I have to wait for new books but I don’t mind that. Of course I don’t like listening to books so that too isn’t worth it to me. My son likes it though.
I love audiobooks. I can sew, knit do the dishes. The narrator can make or break it though. My favorite reader is Hugh Fraser. But he seems to do Agatha Christie exclusively. Also, I recently discovered Cloud through my library. I can be twentieth in line on Overdrive and get the book right away on Cloud. The
I love them especially for sweeping science fiction because the fan base is very loyal. Also, I don’t like music so I’ve always got a book on in the car. Can’t be beat ?
Audio books put me to sleep, so I don’t typically like them? If I had the space on my phone, though…I’d probably enjoy listening to them (if they were familiar stories) during an anxiety or migraine attack.
I do; however, believe they’re great for people who enjoy books but have difficulty reading for whatever reason.
I love audible. It’s so much easier to get to all the books I want when I can listen while I go about my day!
I love audible!! But only because I have a 4 hours commute each day and I listen to books in the car. It makes traffic suck way less and I get to enjoy books that I otherwise would not have time to sit down and read. That’s a long commute! What area are you in? Safe travels!

I dont like audible. Sends me to sleep.

Just cancelled Audible as I’ve discovered my local library has loads of audio books for free?
I have been a member since the beginning! They have grown so much. At the start it was hard to find editions that were the whole book.
They have given me my money back the few times I have asked.
I highly recommend them!
I’ve used audible since 2011
4 hours in the car, daily. I listen to audiobooks. I don’t have audible but Scribd has an amazing selection.
Changed my husbands daily commute, he is very thankful for it and has read i.e. listened to so much more than he would have as a consequence. I on the other hand do tend to struggle with the voices though currently can’t get enough of Michelle Obama reading her memoir.
@Rebecca I just said to my sister, I’m spending the day with Michelle Obama and it’s so soothing. Lol. Loving it.
I love it. I listen while doing stuff around the house and working. I still don’t count it towards my goodreads goal though, feels wrong when I’m not actually reading it, lol. But it’s so convenient.
I love audible ?
I have over 2 hour per day commute for work and Audible is my favorite thing for my drive time!!! I’ve been on Audible since 2006. Love it!!
I use scribd bc I can get unlimited audiobooks and books to read as well. I use that and the library app.
I love it. I adore radio plays and audio books. Love Audible – I’m a community nurse with a very large area to cover so love listening in as I’m driving between patients.
I like Scribd better, last time I looked it was cheaper and there was more access

LoveLOVElove Audible. It is the heart of my reading world. ?
The library/Overdrive is nice because they are free. With Audible however, they have almost any audiobook you can possibly think of readily available when you want it. Plus the books are yours to own forever. Even if you cancel your membership.
I like audible and scribd. I use both since you keep the books in audible if you cancel.

Love audible!
Hibooks was cool at first… not anymore
Love Audible but think it’s way too expensive. I use Libby & Overdrive & Hoopla.

Love audible I just ask for a gift membership for my birthday one time I brought the 12 month gift membership
I love listening to a good book whilst spinning, weaving or knitting – add a big fat cup of tea and life doesn’t get much better than that.
I love audible
My only issue with audiobooks in general is with the large number of books that don’t have decent narrators/quality sound. Always sample before purchasing unless you know the narrator.

I struggle with Audible books..
Narrators normally the cause…
Love audible! I’m addicted!!

I do not like. It isnt so bad if the reader doesn’t do voices. I find it very distracting.

As I have Alexa I use audible to listen to books at night and find it very good…
