If you listen to podcasts check out Last Podcast on the Left. They always let you know which books they used for research and it’s a sure fire way to light up you tbr pile! Also, it’s a fun listen 🙂 Happy reading!
My favorite to this day is probably still The Devil’s Knot by Mara Leveritt. Manson by Jeff Guinn is very good as well as Adnan’s Story by Rabia Chaudry, The Riverman: Ted Bundy and I Hunt for the Green River Killer by Robert Keppel, and Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt.
Omg, so many. All of Ann Rule’s books. Sharon Tate & the Manson Murders (I personally think it’s better than Helter Skelter). Columbine. Any Jack Olsen, Kathryn Casey or Caitlin Rother true crime book. There’s more, I just can’t think of them right now.
Blood on the Snow, Black Friday Coming Down, The Moon is Always Full, or anything else by David Hunter. He is a retired Tennessee deputy sheriff and a very good true crime author and storyteller.
