Have a look at Night Driver by Marcelle Perks…
Truth and Lies by @Caroline, is brilliant, not factual but there are similarities to true crime events. Not sure if that is what you are looking for.
The Black Dahlia by James Ellroybased on a 1947 murder
I am pretty sure I read that YEARS ago and it was brilliant. Hasn’t that been made into a film?
@Carole yes I’m fairly sure that it has if not more than once!
Makes me think I should read it again now ?
This is the real life story.
@Carole once in 2006 and previously 1975
The Long Drop by Denise Mina
Many years ago I read Joseph Wambaugh’s The Blooding, based on the first murder case solved by genetic fingerprinting. Not sure if it has stood the test of time, but I certainly was fascinated by it, and it started my love affair with crime literature and fiction.
Tom Cain’s books are all set against a backdrop of real events. They are all fantastic reads.
The Quaker from Liam McIlvanney: The Long Drop from Denise Mina x
Who Killed Little Johnny Gill by Kathryn McMaster is good.
Blacklands by Belinda Bauer
Street Girl by Rozana McGrattan. Not crime as such but harrowing struggle against evil/criminals.
It’s an amazing book and Rozana is an amazing lady.
Thanks for your suggestions- I’ve made a list of them ? – I’ll be looking them up!
@David you’ll love his books.
Try Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann – true and shocking
