Although the topic sounds silly, The Feather Thief is as thrilling as an action packed heist movie. The best true crime of 2018 – so far. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/35901186-the-feather-thief?from_search=true

I can’t really recommend true crime, but for fairy tales, I really liked Sisters Grimm (Buckley) and the Rump (shurtliff). They are probably 4-6 grade level, but I read them with my kids and enjoyed them as much as the kids did.
